So basically with coating, they have cermaic powder that is baked on your header like pottery. Then they mix stuff in to give it it's look. So with a silver header, they mix in silver, and aluminum powder, and then polish it to a shine after baking.

With a colored coating like that, they just mix in a colored resin.

Now with coating appearence, often the stuff they mixed in will get get messed up long before the actual ceramic has issues. This is why I prefer a polished silver header. If you spill fluid on it, it is wipable. Overheat it, it just burns off the top polished layer...you can use some alumimum poish and bring it back to a shine. Something gets burned to it like road grime...again, just polish it.

Now with a colored header like white, black, blue..etc, they are not nearly as forgiving. When they overheat, the resin burns off leaving discoloration. Spill something on them like oil, they are stained. Road grime and deposits get on them...they are there for ever as there is not a process for cleaning them.

Don't want to threadjack...just wanted to share some info to keep in mind when selecting a coating.

Interesting...and thank you for posting that

OP they look great! Nice work
