Ordering question.

Went down to my dealer to order a 2LT convertable and they took the order, however they said they could not place the order because they did not have any allocations. I was told it could be up to 9 weeks before the order is excepted by GM, seems a bit ridiculous. I did not have any problems with getting my other one, has something changed?

Thanks,

Sean

It all depends on that dealerships allocations.....they only get so many.....the that dealer doesn't have one......go somewhere else that does.....HOWEVER, BEWARE.....just because they SAY they have an allocation.....doesn't mean they do. IF you can't have them geive you an order number within a week......then they are YANKING YOUR CHAIN.

To the OP, Gm Should pick it up Without allocation

From BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet
Starting July 26th, unallocated sold orders for
Camaro coupe and convertible will be processed
by GM - that means no more waiting for the
dealers to place them
This means once your dealer orders your car, GM will pick up
the order and process it. It may not get picked
up the same day, but should within a couple of
days of the order, unless the order has unbuildable
options or holds.

Isn't that what she said? Dealers don't need allocations in order for an order to be placed and processed by GM. Whereas before, they had to have an actual allocation before they could even place the order, but if they have a sold order w/o an allocation, GM will still build and sell the car.

To the OP - Just find a different dealer that's got an allocation or knows the process for putting an order in for processing the same week.

Better yet, call Becky!

Really, why jack around with a local when she can hook you up and make the process so painless it doesn't hurt.

Yes, if the dealer places a sold order for the customer, GM will pick up the order without allocation.

Maybe because stimulating the LOCAL economy makes more sense...

Damn, everyone on here makes it sound like Becky is the only dealer in the UNIVERSE that isnt screwing people.

FWIW... I got a line on a ZL1 at GMS if GM allows it and with any and all eligible discounts AND 0 mark up if I want it and guess what... ITS NOT BECKY. Sure, I assume she's a great saleswoman... with 2 camaros in her driveway, she must be but I can go 5 minutes down the road and get an equally as appealing deal...

Not taking anything away from her but come on... give the local guys a shot first.

TO THE OP:

It does sound a little fishy that it could take that long. These things haven't been hard to get for quite a while. I would either ask more questions or seek a different dealer. Whomever you choose is your call, and if its Becky... whatever... its yoru decision but it seems this particular dealer is misinformed or just and idiot... and I have been to Abiliene... cute little town!

Did you get an order number and does it show at event code 1100? They may have taken your order, but did the enter it in the system?

I suspect that the person who told you that didn't know what he/she was talking about. Even when allocations were in effect, 9-weeks was way too long to wait. You should go back and get clarification. Maybe he meant you would have your car in 9-weeks - that's much more realistic.

Well the dealer called and said that GM picked up the order and when I asked for the order number they that they won't have all that information until Wednesday. If GM excepted the order wouldn't there be a order number?

The order # is created and available as soon as the dealer enters the order into the computer at the dealership. They don't have to get the # from anyone.....the order number is created and available as soon as they place the order. Somethin' fishy here.................

If the dealership doesn't have the order number, they haven't placed the order.....period!
