What am I doing wrong?

Took the car out for just fun down a back country road. In my other camaro I could come out in first holding the brake and gas and smoke the tires. Now with my ZL1 it is just bogging down like it want to cut off of just grab to tight on the road to spin the tires. And was in PCM 5. I would of thought I could of covered the field with smoke but all I got was a stall.

Guess I am just a loser

Even in PTM5 I think the launch control and traction control are on. If you read the owners manual it will tell you how to turn everything off. With everything off you should be able to get the results you want.

Yes, even in ptm modes it still holds it back. Push down on the button and hold for about 7 seconds and it turns them all off;-)

It is a manual. Ok I turned it all off. I got some but not what I thought. Think maybe this road is one of those hard porous roads. Did almost do a doughnut on a narrow road so thought that is enough for today.

Here is the skinny on a burnout in a manual. Just hit the button once, the yellow traction control light(yellow) will come on. Roast away. Anything else will put you in a ptm mode and limit tire spin.

Unless you're rolling forward and the back end starts to go sideways...you don't have to be rolling fast and the stabilitrack kicks in. Holding the button for 7 secs turns it all off.

...in race mode PTM 5, one must depress the gas pedal and hold it to the floor while the steering wheel is straight, and the tranny is in first gear with the clutch fully depressed <stick>. The motor will hit the rev limiter, bounce a bit, and after a few seconds settle down to around 4K rpms or so....then you are ready to launch. Ease off the clutch and blastoff. That's launch mode. You can't pick the rpm launch point in any PTM mode, the computer must. If you try to, the engine noses over, bogs, dies, and will only recover once you lift off the throttle. In plain tour or sport mode with no PTM you can pick rpm launch. Get accustomed to that before the ultimate trick, turning off the nannies and launching..at any rpm. But, all safeguards are off, and it's only you and the car. Black diamond hill.
