Real World Gas mileage
I have been seriously contemplating trading in my wife's V6 for an SS. The only thing stopping me is gas mileage. So my question to you is...What kind of gas mileage are yall getting on your SS while taking it easy while driving?

It all depends on how you drive it and whether you are going to be in traffic and constantly stopping and going. I go through traffic all day and I get around 14. But now that I put in a CAI, im getting around 17 or so...

That is what I was afraid of. I have a 2011 Tundra too and can't afford to have 2 vehicles that get that bad of gas mileage. Maybe if I make LDO (officer in the USN) I can afford to upgrade. Right now E6 pay just won't allow that. Thanks yall.

100% Rural city area, my dic is usually between 18-19 mpg if I'm taking er easy. Work is about 3 miles from my house, and on a typical day, I probably drive about 20 miles by the time I do the night run to ups to drop packages.

from what i've seen, you can expect a 5-6mpg drop from what you are currently getting if you use the same amount of throttle and same driving conditions. you will go a little faster like this though, so if you use less throttle, you would probably only lose 4-5mpg trading up to the SS.
i have seen people say the SS is an absolutely huge difference in power over the V6, but i have also seen people say the difference isn't really all that big, especially if you are in the high RPMs. edit: between the higher car payment, the higher insurance, and higher gas budget needed, be sure to really crunch the numbers first, to see if it would be a financial decision that is worth the total cost difference for you. |

I haven't reset my MPG reading ever. I've averaged 19.4, with all the autocrossing, drag days, etc... I drive easy when I'm in public.

I think I am just going to keep this for now. She likes it and I like my truck. At some point I will upgrade to an SS or just buy one for myself when I pay off the truck so then Ill have 2 paid off vehicles and can just buy myself an SS for a toy.

that would probably be the best idea. besides, you have a 2012 with the LFX engine. isn't that enough power? if you really want more "get up an go" out of your car, i would get a differential with a higher ratio. the 2LS has a very low ratio diff that robs a lot of torque from the car.
