God this makes me really mad. I got my car from in Alberta, Canada, but the car was originally from Cali. So the plate is drilled in already. Im very rattled about it. Is there any way of filling the holes without replacing the whole front end...slim chance right?

I had the dealer fill the holes on the bumper of the yellow car in my av just last week when I got the heritage grille installed and painted. It cost me less than $500..including painting and installing the new heritage grille.

Nice idea. I haven't been pulled over in years for not having a front plate but have a couple of times before and was given a fix it ticket. If it happens with my Camaro, I now know how to make it look like I fixed it when I have it inspected to through out the fix it ticket.

Great and simple idea.

Just a small caution - you will be blocking some air flow to the radiator when you locate the plate in front of the lower grill instead of the fascia as intended. There is a reason why the lower opening is larger on the SS compared to the LT.

Instead of electrical tape you could use shrink tubing. They also make a rubber paint you dip tools in that im sure would work great for this. Good idea!! Luckly me i live in FL no front plates needed here.

Yeah was thinking the dip-it rubber stuff would work well.

I had the same thought on the paint wear as well.

I'm wondering in those states where front plates are mandatory who will actually ever remove their front license plates?

I have personalized license plates and I want people to see my front plate. That and it's mandatory in Texas.

I hate having a front license plate bracket. I don't think I want to give the cops any more reason to pull me over. I did almost the same thing except I mounted it even lower. I used 2 large cable ties (the ones used in HVAC). I do like the idea of using the bolts for extra saftey.
I also installed door edge guard around the edge to protect the paint.

Thanks for the idea but I'm still not putting a bracket on my front bumper...It takes away the beauty of this car. The license plate in the windshield has been working just fine for me...lol..That is after I got my first $50 ticket in DC. lol
