front license plates
On my corvette I refused to put a front license plate on it. I have lived here for 3 years now and have never been stopped or ticketed. I am not planning on puttin one on the front of my camaro either. What do you do? Plate the front or not?

I wouldn't until you have to. Then you can find a varity of brackets, and other alternatives to drilling 4 holes in your front bumper cover.

I used the lower grill and toggle bolts when I had my Challenger. It worked out well. I'm not sure what I'll do when I actually get my plates in for the Camaro since it doesn't have a flat nose. I may still use the lower grill and just pick one side to put the bracket on.

I never used to put a plate on any of the 4th gen F-bodies that I owned. I had 5 of them and I got stopped in all but one for no front plate. I never got a ticket though. My 5th gen has a plate on it but it was like that when I bought. Had I bought new, I would not have put the plate on there.

I have my plate on right now, but in a few weeks I'm taking it off and plugging the holes.

I think it also depends on where you are. I hear a lot of stories where you will have a 1 in 3 chance of being stopped and fined in some parts of Texas on a daily/weekly basis, others it is 1 in 50 over 6 months.
Then if you plan to drive around from state to state the risk goes up even more. And lets face it, you get stopped and fined 2 or 3 times then money spent on fines could have been spent on a nice K&N air filter instead! Saturday night and you have a beer, you get pulled over only for the fact you don't have a front plate and you might end up having to do the sobriety test. Slightly different perspective now ..... you go to a meet where nobody has a front plate, all the Camaros lined up look the same! Just as if they were in a garage front lot waiting to be sold. So again, for the money you might end up spending in fines, why not get a personalized plate and make your car truly unique? Just playing devils advocate. If it was totally legal not to have a front plate would I put one on? No. Does a front plate really make the Camaro any less beautiful? No. What are the chances of getting stopped? Roll the dice and see what happens. There is always going to be those that do and those that don't. Each to their own .... |

Where in live in Virginia they LOVE to give you tickets for No front plate . So i installed a aftermarket bracket from eBay and i'm done with it . Love to see Va pass the law to go to 1 plate but then they would't make $$$ when we get pulled over !
