We should all happy to get this car anyway we can. With the outlook for GM getting worse everyday, there may be no Camaro next year or any GM vehicle. Look around GM Inside News, its alot worse them most people would like to believe.

Due to electrical load, that translates into alternator horsepower requirements, the ABL causes a LOSS of .002147 horsepower.

This translates into a 0-60mph time degraded by .00081 seconds, for a net result of 4.50081 seconds compared to 4.50000 for non-ABL vehicles. UN-acceptable.

When I was at the Chicago Auto Show, a GM rep was there and I asked him about the ABL. He stated that it was only going to be in the doors. He also said that they were having heating issues with the lighting going across the dash. Overtime, seams started to split which compromised the whole look.
Not sure if there is any validity to this, but it was interesting.

If thats the case, what will the South Florida SUN do to the dashboard?

I don't buy the heat issue excuse. I mean, how hot does a car interior get with the windows up on a scorching day in Nevada? 140..150 degrees easy? LED's do not produce that much heat especially when used in conjunction with fiber optics where the light is simply spread from one source evenly.

If light bulbs caused dashboards to warp then we'd all have some jacked up gauge clusters to stare at all day.

Besides...we cannot forget the Dubai car. However that was working there seemed damn fine to me.

Me thinks this is more likely a cost cutting procedure.

They could do something a lot more constructive to cut costs than $5 on a dash led...

If my dash get's jacked because of heat, I'll be pissed. And for that reason, I'm thinking that this is not the reason they pulled ABL. If it was heat, why would the doors be any different? Aren't they the same material? Until we get a reason otherwise, it's +1 for the bean counters.

It's not just the LED they would be eliminating...it's the acrylic panel and associated wiring.

I have another theory too...what are the legalities regarding lights on your dash? Did GM get overzealous and forget to check whether it is even legal to have a light up dashboard????

They better not cut the silver acrylic. That would ruin the continuity with the doors. The black cloth looks very meh to me and does not match the leather interior at all.

Thanks Scotty!!!

I'm glad to know that I won't have to read another thread that goes something like, "OMG I WANT TO KNOW IF ABL WILL BE ONLY ON THE DOORS OR NOT!!!111one!!!one!!!!11"

Annoying as hell.

If anyone cancels their order over a string of pretty lights inside the car, then they really need to get their priorities in order.

They probably put it together and figured it for production and sat back and figured rather than make it look like the "Cash Cab" they would much rather produce a finished product that people who don't even give a damn about the Camaro will talk about in a good way. If it was going to look cheesy I wouldn't want it. Ever go to a car show and see some of the crap those guys put in their cars? I'd rather have some of a good thing than all of a bad thing.

We'll see the pics of the Saturday event.
