So far the first Camaro five member to receive a Camaro does not have the problem while two others do.

Gm is going to address this issue and wether or not those with these quick fix weights on the brakes will be getting the newer ones from Brembo that correct the problem to be installed by the dealer ofcourse.

so... can the guys that have the weights please post the last 4 numbers of thier VIN?

I am sure that there is a VIN cutoff

EDIT: #2937 does not have the weights .... cutoff is lower than 2937 .... hopefully lower than 1691

The answer from a new member that is in Canada and most likely a worker at the plant.

If this is the case that some of the vehicles were given this quick fix and the cars shipped while Brembo fixed an issue and is now sending corrected Brembos...Then my opinion is that all of those people who received these brakes with weights on them should have them replaced with "brand new" fixed ones... Especially if it is confirmed to be a problem that has been fixed or is being fixed by Brembo.

No need to bitch and moan in this thread. This is the first minor problem/fix with the new Camaro's being shipped and it is not the end of the world.. Should it have been shipped like that? I personally wouldn't have if Brembo was able to ship a replacement part quickly enough and it seems they already have started shipping fixed ones since some of you don't have this problem.. At the very least GM should have informed the dealers of this problem so that they can inform the customer who just paid full price for a new Camaro.. Furthermore GM should have informed the dealer to inform the customer that Brembo would be sending the fixed ones to the dealer and that they decided to send the car sooner without delay since it was a minor problem.. If GM had taken these steps, nobody would be complaining and there would be no mystery and uproar in the forums..

No way is this effective vibration mitigation....this has to be an assembly snafu!!

If this addition of wheel balance weights to the outside of the calipers is in fact being allowed by GM quality and engineering staff to be delivered this way, then we should also expect to find a pair of vice grips attaching the transmission to the cross member reinforced with JB Weld!! This takes on the appearance of a Band-Aid over a bullet wound.......or perhaps these are simply spare wheel weights for future wheel balancing!!!

I would like to hear for our friends representing GM on this sight to chime in, but I assume it is being "looked into" before any public explanation is offered through official channels. If this was intended and allowed to pass through by quality control engineering, then it raises serious concerns that marketing is overriding engineering and quality control and forcing these early cars out the door.

Either way, I still want one, but WTF GM?????

on my srt charger, we had the same problem of brakes squeeling and rotors warping...the outcome was that the brakes did not get up to temperature (since these brakes are high performance) causing the squeeling and warping of the rotors. there was a TSP to fix that and all rotors were replaced with slotted ones.

one thing though these brembo pads will be dust monsters!!!! you will be cleaning your wheels every two days.

i went with ceramic pads that elimated most of the squeeling and dust, but sacrificed stopping distance.... if you track your car, you would want to put the original pads back on since they are much better.

changing out the pads are a piece of cake.....remove the two studs and pads fall out.....(if they are the same brembo brakes as the srt, which they look similar)

Richard's car not having them may be because his higher VIN, but then again, his is a 1SS with an AT and Davis and Snook's cars are both 2SS/MT cars, so I guess it's possible that either the 2SS package or the change in tranny is responsible too?

Camkid54's answer sounds the most plausible to me, though it would be nice to get some verification.
