We are talking about his LS3 and that is what I am referring to as it is not nearly as restricted as the L99.
Take a look here on page 12, post 283 and then page 13, post 303 and read forward from Jannetty Racing: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=48202&page=12

The GM axlebacks sound like trash...just letting you know. I can cough louder than those things. Not a good idea.

For your shifter, I would recommend you go with a full short throw shifter. You'll get more out of it. Barton would be a good brand. A lot of people also like Hurst.
GMPP is a good brand. You can count on GMPP to provide reliable, quality parts at a price that you can expect to pay for such parts. GMPP is not competitive when it comes to performance. I would encourage you to consider a full exhaust, starting with headers from the likes of American Racing or another well-priced brand with a stellar reputation. I would encourage you to install this part at the same time as a catback exhaust. Pick a major manufacturer, like Magnaflow or Borla. If you're choosing a CAI, make sure you are not later considering a supercharger. Your CAI will probably not fit since the air inlet has moved from its stock position. Install your CAI at the same time as other mods to get the most benefit. Be sure to get a tune after doing this.

I dunno...everyone that I know who installed a cat-back (on LS3's), felt a difference in throttle response and more top-end power (6th gear becomes more usable). I'm not saying Ted is wrong or I don't value what he says...just saying some things don't show up on the dyno. Plus you get rid of the "hi-flow" factory GM kinks (see below)...IMO it's worth is just for better sound and to get rid of the coffee cans under the back of the car.

No worries! I agree - it would be my expectation that a full exhaust would make a difference but I don't have room to question Ted either. It would be really interesting if he did do a comparison of the cat-backs. I have bought cat'backs for all my cars until this one. At some point, I will go with headers and full exhaust for those power gains.

As most have said if you want sound is your priority and not HP then get an axleback. By going with a non-GM product you can use the money saved toward the shifter/CAI.

If you decide to go ahead and do an axle back which I'm going to do on my 2SS LS3 when it comes in (I've got the Borla Stinger ready to go) because I'm one of the few that prefers to keep the H pipe for a little more deeper sound and with 426 hp. And hp gain has been proven not to be much with a catback over factory exhaust on the 2SS LS3. I'm not to concerned about a little more power in the mid range. Then check the sponsers on here that sell the Borla axle backs. And see if its still cheaper than with your GM discount to buy the GM one. Its the same one. Borla makes the ones GM sell. Only difference is the GM ones have a bowtie stamped in the top of the muffler tip and the Borla says Borla on top of the tip.
