ZL1's in California Bay Area???
So my 2013 #968 should be arriving to the bay by the end of the week. I've seen 1 white one at Boardwalk Chevrolet, just saw my first 2013 come off the truck at courtesy and mine is almost here. I think about 4-5 have been delivered between the 3 dealers I've talked to.
So are there any ZL1 owners on the forum in the Bay Area? Let me know. We are probably a minority up here. |

I am 200 miles south of you. I live in a small town that I think will never see another ZL1 owner other than me. Makes it kinda fun....

No, had to go to Orange Ca to land my car. I tried all over Fresno, Clovis, Tulare, Visalia you name it. The guy at Selman and my credit union buyer were tits all the waySorry, guess I should not say that here, but they did a great job.

I've seen a VR one around Burlingame area, but not many. Putnam had one allocation of a black one, but not sure who bought it

When I contacted Courtesy Chevrolet, I was told that the dealership was unwilling to sell ZL1s at MSRP, and that a "market adjustment" would be added to the MSRP of their ZL1s. Did you purchase from Courtesy, and if so, did you pay any ADM? I found that other local Bay Area dealerships (Capitol, Boardwalk, etc.) appeared to have a policy similar to Courtesy's with regard to selling ZL1s. Therefore, I ordered my 2013 ZL1 Convertible, which should be built within the next couple of days, if it hasn't been built already (TPW of 06-Aug-2012), at MSRP from an out of state dealership and the vehicle will be drop shipped (a courtesy delivery, for a $250 fee) directly from Oshawa to a South Bay dealership. If all goes well, I'm hoping to take delivery of my ZL1 by mid September.

Well I was one of the suckers that paid mark up at Courtesy. Makes me sick even thinking about it. Bastards!
Boardwalk had a white one with a $20k mark up. Fremont told me they had 2 allocations but couldn't even give me a price, oh yea, after they told me that had a few on the lot and that I should come in to look at them (didn't even know what a ZL1 was). Courtesy was pretty quick with the process. I got the 4th of 4 allocations they had for the first round. Though about going out of state but just bit the bullet over the phone an far then my deposit to order me one. I had only a few hours to make a decision because thier last allocation was at a 3000 status and it was the last day they could modify the order. All siad and done. I paid over MSRP for my '13 coupe. Idiot, I know! |

I think it's unfortunate that the dealers in the Bay Area, and in California in general, appear to be applying significant dealer markup on ZL1s. I believe that if Bay Area dealers were willing to sell ZL1s at MSRP, in this day and age of the Internet, they'd be better off in the long run because they'd be better able to build solid long term relationships with customers, instead of forcing many customers to buy and have service performed elsewhere.

I know what you mean. I saw a ZL1 next to USC going for $80,000. $20k mark up. Ridiculous. I just laughed because they will probably find a poor sucker that will pay it.

I ordered mine from out of state and paid MSRP. It was a huge headache. It got courtesy delivered to Fremont Chevy and thats where they drilled on the front plate bracket after I told them not to. Then because the dealer I purchased from had titled the car, Fremont didnt want to title or do any of the DMV stuffs for me so I had to go take care of that. If you didnt pay too much over MSRP then I think you still got a good deal. I live in the south bay by the way.

If you are purchasing one of these from far away, why wouldn't you just go to that dealer and have a drivecation home?

At least 2 nights hotel equals approx $200 Plus airfair to OH approx $600 For an approximate cost of $1600. Plus wear and tear on a brand new car, rock chips on bumper and car, possible crack windshield from flying debris... Nope, courtesy delivery still wins out
