I think the KB 3.6 is about 60 lbs heavier than the maggie.

This is really scary when adding in the possibility of using the iron LSX block as at least another 100lbs, heavier stronger axles, the 9in is no light weight either, the gear section alone (Strange version with carrier and gears is another 80 and then there is the case. Cage for you guys won't be an option..unfortunately figure about another 250. ugh!!! The total added weight must be somewhere at least 300-500lbs.
This is something that I think even carbon fiber won't completely compensate. Say it can't be true that the KB weighs 160..I knew the rotors were a little different but it doesn't look that much larger...photos make it look much slimmer.

Sice my starting point was nearly 4,000lbs I kinda gave up on weight I just wanted as much torque as possible to make up for it, And trust me this car will have an insane amount of torque!!! And i could eliminate 300lbs or more pretty easily, I would like to get it under the 4,000lb range when i'm done with it.

I am just saying that all the weight that is being added from the hard core hardware is adding up quickly.
I agree on both counts that the LSX block and the KB are a great combination. I have my LSX block but I am shopping for a set of 6 bolt heads to take full advantage of its potential. I agree that the car can use all the grunt it can get in order to get moving.

I feel your pain (again). I decided with the SST fighting the weight issue in a true street car is very hard while keeping full power and safety systems (LSX, A2W, 9 inch diff, Outlaw axles, cage, chute, fire suppression, fuel, blah, blah, blah...). After everything is tuned and good to go, then start finding possible ways to cut weight. (Front subframe from Xtreme Innovations, etc.) When you start putting your car on a diet give me a shout, maybe we can compare notes... |
