I dont freaking know whats happening, maybe I press the key fob button in my pocket? Has this happened to anyone else or am I loosing my marbles?

lol thanks
If the problem persists without your key fob being in your pocket, the best thing to do is to get the situation diagnose. There could be various reasons why this keeps happening. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

All the best,

If you leave it out of your pocket and it does this, then it may be the battery or damage to the key fob.

On my old car, it used to lock/unlock by itself. Very Unpredictable. Found out the key fob was dirty causing a bad connection.

Mine has never opened on it's own when the keys were not in my pocket. back when I was undergoing Chemo it stayed on the key hook for 3 months and never opened once. But in my pocket is another story. I have even had the door to lock and the horn to beep. Most of the time these things occur when I am in a sitting, stooping or crouching position.

Happens too often if fob is in pocket. Funny how it has never unlocked doors ot set off panic. Only unlocks trunk.

The pocket press is a valid explanation, but it has yet to happen to me. I'm a big guy w/ a lot of stuff in my pockets as well. so you would think it would be a regular thing, but it's just not the case.

My key has unlatched inside my pocket before but I've yet to experince trunk openings or alarms.

I was leaning down washing my left rear rim yesterday and I kept hearing what I thought was a small animal in the trunk. Walking around to do the other wheel I noticed the trunk was open. Must of been a pocket press since I had my keys in my pocket. With my Ford, it's always the panic alarm I set off while kneeling down to clean the rims, heh.

My 2012 requires me to either hold down the trunk button or to hit it twice?

Yep, you're just accidentally hitting the fob. Also the more keys you have on your key ring, the easier it is to do.
