I just noticed the start of a chip today. I have a clear bra going on this Friday so I will hit the dealer next week to try and stop any further damage.

Just picked up my car and all is good. The work order said they had to order a "plate". I'll post up the exact part number when I get home. All said and done, I'm happy with the repair.

+1

Please do, I dropped my Camaro off to get this fixed also but the body shop guy said that he hadn't seen it before and thought the service bulletin would just instruction him to repaint it

Actually I first noticed this on a VR Camaro I rented in Florida so I thought I would check mine when I got home. I only had 500 miles on mine and this was already starting to happen.

Here you go guys. Pic of the work order. Hope this helps some of you that had the same issue as me. Again what caught my attention was the Special Ordered part. My service guy was already gone for the day when I picked up the car so I wasn't able to ask myself.

ah, it looks like the "special order" is the RS badge that goes on your trunk lid.

I was hoping it was some kind of fix to keep that damn spoiler from rubbing the paint on the trunk. Let us know if it does it again after they "fixed it"

Thanks!

I wonder if a strip of clear vinyl under the spoiler would solve any future problems?

My dealer said that my spoiler is fine and since the only damage is under the spoiler and barely visible there is nothing he can do right now. Once the damage gets worse I will take it back to him and demand it be fixed. Right now it is very small and very hard to tell it is even there. If it starts peeling or I see bare metal I will raise the issue further.

The body shop guy I went to have my Camaro fixed said the Impalas do the same thing as the Camaro except just under the spoiler. Most people don't notice until they have rust coming through their trunk probably well after the warranty has expired? I'd raise hell...new cars shouldn't be doing this...

It almost makes me wish I didn't get the RS package

Mine has this EXACT same thing!!!!!!!

Small paint chip just underneath the right side of the spoiler on the deck lid. Calling my local dealer in the AM.

And mine is black.
