V-6 Engine cover mods

Anmyone have any good ideas on painting modding their V-6 Engine cover? I just don't like the plain black with my new Air Raid CAI. Any suggestions welcome

I took mine off for now, I think the intake manifold looks good. At some point I may get the manifold painted in some color scheme.

Can it be painted without the heat affecting it? I noticed some little type of "dust" on it the other day when we had some nice weather

Hi - temp engine paint should do the trick. I also have the Airaid but may swap it out with the Vararam if it ever comes out. I was told by Vararam they would be available in January, although I wouldn't bet on that. I think the straight inline look of the OTR would look good flowing into a painted manifold.

I may have a Airaid for sale at some point! lol

I think it can be done in the factory color paint.Midwest Auto Gear does these in factory Ford colors for the Mustang.I sent them an e-mail inquiry about doing the same for Camaros. They also do custom air brush designs.
The plain black is pretty "blah" isn't it.BTW in your signature you have a picture of a little badge with your cars info.Where did you get that?

Wonder how much it would be to just buy the cover from the 08 and up Cadillac 3.6 and just replace the center decal/emblem thingy with the one from the chevy??

It looks like the same cover to me...anyone else know forsure?

It looks nicer...

EDIT: Found at fastgmparts.com for just under $75, but I'm sure its much cheaper to paint yourself.

Got it from one of our members here on Camaro5. DragonZ28 runs emblempros.com. They are customizable and high quality. Roger will get back to you in a few days if you contact their web e-mail.

I decided to wrap my cover instead of paint. So far so good.

Autozone sells an etching flat clear primer for automotive plastics. I used mineral spirts to clean off the grease and 2 coats of the primer, followed by paint. 2000 miles since done and no issues. If you want it smooth you will need to sand down the textured finish.
