2011 Camaro towing?

I brought this topic up before. Last year I wanted to put a tow hitch on my Camaro to carry track tires on a trailer. I just bought a jetski, and this brings up my old discussion of towing with my Camaro. Which one on this site would work best for me? Thank you! https://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2011_...let_Camaro.htm This will not last forever, gonna buy an old pickup when I can.

Read the owner's manual. "This vehicle was neither designed not intended to be towed with any of its wheels on the ground."

Is that clear?

I don't think towing something small will hurt it. I don't know how it will do with a lot of tongue weight on the rear. I wouldn't if i could avoid it.

Indeed I did. Sorry.

The Camaro can tow up to 1,000 lbs if the hitch is set up for proper height.

I would go with the Drawtite hitch out of those 2 so that I wouldn't have to drill into the car . Just my 2cents.

Read the post
its in the manual on how much you can tow

9-66 Driving and Operating
Trailer Towing (ZL1)
The vehicle is neither designed nor
intended to tow a trailer.
Trailer Towing
(Except ZL1)
Before pulling a trailer, there are
three important considerations that
have to do with weight:
. The weight of the trailer.
. The weight of the trailer tongue.
. The total weight on your
vehicle's tires.
Weight of the Trailer
How heavy can a trailer safely be?
It should never weigh more than
454 kg (1,000 lbs). But even that
can be too heavy.
It depends on how the rig is used.
For example, speed, altitude, road
grades, outside temperature, and
how much the vehicle is used to pull
a trailer are all important. It can
depend on any special equipment
on the vehicle, and the amount of
tongue weight the vehicle can carry.
See “Weight of the Trailer Tongue”
later in this section for more
information.
Maximum trailer weight is calculated
assuming only the driver is in the
tow vehicle and it has all the
required trailering equipment. The
weight of additional optional
equipment, passengers and cargo in
the tow vehicle must be subtracted
from the maximum trailer weight.
Ask your dealer for our trailering
information or advice, or you can
write us at our Customer Assistance
Offices. See Customer Assistance
Offices (U.S. and Canada) on
page 13‑5 or Customer Assistance
Offices (Mexico) on page 13‑5 for
more information.
Weight of the Trailer Tongue
The tongue load (A) of any trailer is
an important weight to measure
because it affects the total gross
weight of the vehicle. The Gross
Vehicle Weight (GVW) includes the
curb weight of the vehicle, any
cargo carried in it, and the people
who will be riding in the vehicle.
If there are a lot of options,
equipment, passengers or cargo in
the vehicle, it will reduce the tongue
weight the vehicle can carry, which
will also reduce the trailer weight the
vehicle can tow. If towing a trailer,
the tongue load must be added to
the GVW because the vehicle will
be carrying that weight, too. See
Vehicle Load Limits on page 9‑14
for more information about the
vehicle's maximum load capacity.
Driving and Operating 9-67
The trailer tongue (A) should weigh
10 to 15 percent of the total loaded
trailer weight (B).
After loading the trailer, weigh the
trailer and then the tongue,
separately, to see if the weights are
proper. If they aren't, adjustments
might be made by moving some
items around in the trailer.
Total Weight on Your Vehicle's
Tires
Be sure the vehicle's tires are
inflated to the upper limit for cold
tires. These numbers can be found
on the Tire and Loading Information
label. See Vehicle Load Limits on
page 9‑14. Make sure not to go over
the GVW limit for the vehicle,
including the weight of the trailer
tongue.
Towing Equipment
Hitches
Use the correct hitch equipment.
See your dealer or a hitch dealer for
assistance.
. The rear bumper on the vehicle
is not intended for hitches. Do
not attach rental hitches or other
bumper-type hitches to it. Use
only a frame-mounted hitch that
does not attach to the bumper.
. Will any holes be made in the
body of the vehicle when the
trailer hitch is installed? If there
are, seal the holes when the
hitch is removed. If the holes are
not sealed, dirt, water, and
deadly carbon monoxide (CO)
from the exhaust can get into the
vehicle. See Engine Exhaust on
page 9‑29.

Wait...so, you bought a jet ski, then questioned your towing options afterwards? I grew up with speedboats and if you're privy to watersports, you'd know that you have to back your vehicle into the water pretty far when launching a boat, jet ski, etc.. I'm not certain this is an intelligent choice with a Camaro.

Old thread but the Camaro is rated for 1000 lbs. I have towed a jet ski and a small motorcycle trailer a several times. The tow rating is limited by the connection point of the hitch on the bottom of the trunk. Obviously the engine, transmission, and brakes are no where near their capacity towing this light load.

Was wondering what is the heaviest anyone has ever towed. Was thinking to buy a small boat and have not yet bought a tow vehicle, wanted to tow the small boat home and not move it again until I've bought a tow vehicle. Probably will end up renting if I can't arrange with a friend to tow.

Sure why not? The only advice I might offer is avoid a hitch that sits too close to the ground. On different vehicles once I got a heavier class hitch for added safety than I needed. It's pipe size and construction had it only about 6 inches off the ground, once you added tongue weight it was about 3" of clearance. Going over bumps or rain channels in the road made it scrape. Get one that sits up high enough and a simple wiring kit and enjoy.
