? So you do not have to remove the struts.

I've always wondered about getting one of these puppys. Does it make the car more rigid/secure? Does it improve handling at all? Or is it mostly looks? I understand where it helps the Convertible just wondering if it has the same effects on the coupe...

Thanks ahead of time guys, don't mean to derail the thread just looking for insight.

I had the 2012 V6 for 18 months, and really love driving the car. We have a stretch of twisty road and speedbumps around the backside of the factory I work at that we call "The Slolom", and all the early shift guys run the slolom on the way in. It's great fun as long as we don't get caught.

Well, I used to run it in my T-Bird, and that car felt like the door handles were scraping the pavement. Then I got the V6 Camaro, and it was STIFF! I could track the slolom and feel exactly when the tires are about to break loose, and only after the car was a year old could I sometimes feel the front end flex.

So a few weeks ago I traded in the LFX for an L99 SS, and now I feel the front end flexing really easy, probably due to the heavier engine. The V6 is a LOT more nimble than the V8. I only had the car 1 week before I ordered a strut tower brace.

So, to be fair, I have not installed mine yet, I just finished painting it, but I will report within a few weeks how it performs.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next

I installed mine after work today, and went out to Little Fremont to tear it up a bit, and yes, I can confirm, immeasurable a performance enhancement they may say it is, it's an upgrade you CAN feel. And it feels good!

I blew into a dead end court and slammed into the brakes while turning, then burned out and billowed some glorius smoke, and the front end did not dive like it was doing before. I wonder how long this joy will last before I flex the damn thing into uselessness?

No you do not remove the Strut. You just work around them.

Watch the engine move while the front sub-frame remains almost stationary at 14 Seconds

The front sub-frame mounts with six bolts and two locating pins. There are no rubber bushes. The front sub-frame connects well forward and well behind the front ‘axle’ for strength and stability. As you could see in the frontal impact video the engine was moving backwards from the impact (at roughly 14 seconds), but the front sub-frame remained well located. High-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel is a type of alloy steel that provides better mechanical properties or greater resistance to corrosion than carbon steel. HSLA steels vary from other steels in that they aren't made to meet a specific chemical composition, but rather to specific mechanical properties. They have a carbon content between 0.05–0.25% to retain formability and weldability. Other alloying elements include up to 2.0% manganese and small quantities of copper, nickel, niobium, nitrogen, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, calcium, rare earth elements, or zirconium.[1][2] Copper, titanium, vanadium, and niobium are added for strengthening purposes.[2] These elements are intended to alter the microstructure of carbon steels, which is usually a ferrite-pearlite aggregate, to produce a very fine dispersion of alloy carbides in an almost pure ferrite matrix. This eliminates the toughness-reducing effect of a pearlitic volume fraction, yet maintains and increases the material's strength by refining the grain size, which in the case of ferrite increases yield strength by 50% for every halving of the mean grain diameter. Precipitation strengthening plays a minor role, too. Their yield strengths can be anywhere between 250–590 megapascals (36,000–86,000 psi). Due to their higher strength and toughness HSLA steels usually require 25 to 30% more power to form, as compared to carbon steels

Martensitic Ultra High Strength Steel Maraging steels (a portmanteau of martensitic and aging) are iron alloys which are known for possessing superior strength and toughness without losing malleability, although they cannot hold a good cutting edge. 'Aging' refers to the extended heat-treatment process. These steels are a special class of low-carbon ultra-high-strength steels which derive their strength not from carbon, but from precipitation of inter-metallic compounds. The principal alloying element is 15 to 25% nickel.[1] Secondary alloying elements are added to produce intermetallic precipitates, which include cobalt, molybdenum, and titanium.

It is required on all '10s and early '11s. That is unless you have the machinery and know how to fabricate your own.
