It's not speculation. It's been confirmed by numerous dealers.

I agree with you , but I think alot of people will get upset if it has more power than the SS. I for one do not mind that aspect at all. I dont think this car should be called anything other than Z28. I cant imagine having one and pulling up to a gas station and someone coming up to me and saying " man is that the new z28?" and I have to say " no man its the Horsepower edition" :(:(

Here are the confirmed details from the meeting:

Production begins January 1, 2012
Internally referred to as the “HP Edition” model (it was not actually referred to as “Z28″ during the meeting)
6.2L supercharged engine
Magnetic Ride suspension
285F / 330R tires
Hood design to have louvre/slat design seen in spy photos (dealers in attendance were shown a gray Z28 model)
Slight (not major) updates to the interior, with some brighter trimwork

I would definitely get it no matter what it was called... but saying it's a Z28 sounds nicer to me

It shouldn't be called Z/28. If it came with coilovers, a smaller high output engine and a lighter curb weight, then it could be called Z/28. The last time the Z was the top car in the lineup is when they were going after the Trans Am racing series. Very limited production, limited options.

Is the new platform going to lighten up the curb weight very much? I can't imagine that it is going to save enough weight to make up for the 100+ pounds of SC over the front tires and the extra weight of the MRS. So the new "HP Edition" should be over 4000 pounds. Not exactally what I would consider Z/28 worthy.

The new SC powered beast needs a different moniker.

We live in very different times now. Somethings are just not feasable in today's world. A lightweight Z28 ain't gonna happen. Some will say then, well if that's the case then they should just not use the Z28 name. I don't know, they may be right.

I think this poll is funny. Not really expecting a whole lot of anti-Z28 answers. I voted Z-28. Should post this poll on a Mustang or Challenger website. Not!

Frud releases a limited number of both Boss and GT 500 cars. It wouldn't take much to lighten the car enough to keep it under 4k pounds. Hell, rip the back seat out, lighten the interior up with race inspired seats etc....

I dont see it happening, but either way the car is going to fly off the lot.

NO SIR. Z/28 is a NOUN assigned to the option package! It has become an identity in an of itself. And, it has become so on MERIT, not hyperbole.

Now, go back to your room! LOL.

Z28 all the way. The z28 name is a camaro. That name Z28 screams muscle. I hope they don't make the mistake of calling it something else. That would be sad. I own a 94 Z28 and it's the best name ever for a muscle car.
