What do you value this Camaro at?
I have a friend who is interested in a Camaro, and I guess it is all on what you want/like, but what would you value this 2010 Camaro 2SS at? Its tough because the ZL1 isnt very far away from this price.

Depends what your friend is wanting.
With the mods to that car, you know the majority of its miles have been rough. The engine mods are substantial, but could have been done by someone just wanting more power but when I see a stall installed I figure its been used for much more than spirited driving. While I'm sure whoever put the time in on this beast probably did a great job on upkeep, and the performance is better than a stock ZL1 - I'd go for the ZL1. If your friend wants a raced car that has been modded out already - this is a great car. If your friend wants a new car with a drivetrain warranty, the ZL1 takes it.

This sums it very well on a high performance mod Camaro. -my $.02 Today with the ZL1 or the 1LE, we can buy a HIGHER performance Camaro version that the SS/RS and as stated with factory warranty. I sure from the beginning, if the ZL1 was avail, many of us that did some major motor mods would have bought ZL1's dud to the similar amount of money would have been spent. That under assumptions one would leave the ZL1/1LE alone. But we all love to individualize our Camaro, mods both cosmetic and/or performance will always been considered and done I will disagree with the thought that even with the motor mods this car as added, that the "miles may have been rough". but since stated he is your friend, you are in the know. I do agree that this owner was wanting some more power, with the related sound, and such. I also have done very similar to my Camaro except I'm not so much into the blinging with lights that can be done. But a cammed, supercharged, with headers breathing thru big pipes 5th gen motor has the idle and power and sound beyond the old school chevy motors... ITS AWESUM. The bonus is I even on highway driving get 25-28mpg. I ordered the new Pfadt coil over kit (on the waiting list) that soon my driving comfort and handling with be closer to the ZL1 (drop springs on stock dampers is a choppy ride). Bottom line, everything I have done, I will never get back the value, and now deep $$$ into the car to my personal taste and performance. If this car is you, go for it. If its at the ZL1 $$, well then? Both ZL1 / 1LE have value, and even value should be retained on future re-sell vs us that with mods have hit these prices |

A person that has invested a lot of $$$ in mods will NEVER recoup the money that has been spent when it's time to sell. A highly modified SS is still an SS. A ZL1 will always be higher on the totem pole. The car in thread #10 has been on Ebay for a couple months now and if memory serves correct, the price started in the $60k-70k's. The ad now says $45k or best offer. This is one-off custom build for SEMA and he'll never see half of what was invested. Your choice. I'd rather get a factory built car (ZL1) with a warranty than a shop-modified SS. Not saying the modified car was built improperly, it's just that there's no warranty if something would break.

Modded cars add 10% of the value of the mods. If "$75,000 was invested", add $7500 to the value of a stock 2010 SS. That's what the car is worth.
