Angry Worst Friday Night Ever

Driving home from work ~11pm Friday night. Decided to take the back road to check up on the new house I am building. After doing a once-through the house, was driving back to the condo I am renting. Came to the outside development of the condo complex, came to a stop at the four way stop sign/intersection.

Made a left turn, saw a green Jeep Wrangler coming down the road. Then, as I finish the turn and pop into 2nd gear, a second car slightly behind the Jeep is racing down trying to pass the Jeep, coming towards me in my lane head on. I swerved and over-compensated.... ended up in a drainage ditch in Florida. Both of the other drivers never even stopped. Mud was thick and couldn't open my doors. Had to crawl out the back of the car through the trunk.

Filed an accident report, but nothing could be done as the drivers didn't stop. I didn't make contact with the other drivers, so it is all my claim. I am thankful I didn't end up unconsciousness in the ditch, as no one stopped and there aren't any street lights on the road. You wouldn't have been able to see my car until daylight.

This was my first car out of college, in 2009 when I landed my first job. Pre-ordered her and am a very proud Camaro SS owner.

She turns over, and displays no warning lights. Front-right wheel broke off the spindle I believe.

Crossing my fingers that she isn't totaled.

This is what she looked liked:

Truly bumming for your worst Friday night ever... however, I will also nominate that post for "best excerpt," at least of the day!

As long as your ok, is all that matters. Some days I just hate other people ... I was leaving the car wash last night, and had a Mustang cut the corner causing me to lock my brakes down 15 feet from a stop sign. I stoped hard enough to cause some things I had in my trunk, knock down the back seat and come into the cabin. Then he had the balls to flip me off ... LOL ... What a dick !!!

The important thing is you walked away from this. The car can be replaced, you on the other hand....

Does this mean you had the traction and skid control nannies turned off?

Sorry to hear that....really sucks, especially since they'll consider you at fault. You're safe and in one piece so that's the main thing. Your car can be fixed. Doesn't looked like it's anywhere near totaled. Dirty....yes, but nothing a good high pressure spray wash couldn't take care of. Maybe this will be a good time to add some aftermarket suspension parts.

This.

Sounds like you didn't have an airbag deployment? If not, chances are good they wont total it. By the description and without an airbag deployment, I doubt you could have caused irreparable frame damage and with the engine cranking you probably haven't lost the most expensive drive train piece. Your MSRP =~30,000 and totaling it would be approximately 75% of that so ~22.5K in damage to total it. Pay your deductable, sit back and let your insurance company fix your baby. Its what you pay them for.

A harrowing experience that ended pretty well, all things considered. She can be fixed back up. And you're ok. Good story with a better ending.

"Had to crawl out the back of the car through the trunk."
Could you have crawled out the window?
it does suck but like others have said at least you are ok.
Good luck on getting it fixed.
