OK, I have to chime in because I had this exact same dilemma a week ago. The difference in price between the two is $10,000. 2014 1LE fully loaded but no sunroof, Yellow.. 2013 ZL1 sunroof microfiber option and carbon fiber hood, black. I really did not want a 48 or 50 thousand dollar loan, but could swing it. My wife looked at me and said this going to be a summer only weekend car, right? You will treat it like a baby most of the time. I said yes you are right. She also said you really like the look of the of the yellow over the black and the way the 2014 looks. I said yes. Then she said if we are going to take this car on weekend excursions, the 1LE gets 3 or 4 extra miles to the gallon, that does not sound like a lot, but its an extra 60 miles between tank fulls. Less stopping to fill. So I guess the real question is what are you going to do with it... I took the yellow 1LE .. I like the looks more then anything.

@Kinpin, I had a SW 2014 fully loaded and this car as a choice. I really like the 1LE and the recaro seats look so good. After everything was done the price difference was 7k, that made this car impossible to pass up on, so now I am getting the 2013( 72 miles) ZL1 and will be daily driven on every sunny day. As far as fill ups my present daily is a 2500 4x4 dodge, this thing holds 35 gallons and gets 16mpg city. It will be nice not to see triple digits at the pump for a fill up.

I have to say, if the one i was looking at was white. It would have been harder for me to choose . That is one beautiful car .!!!!!!

I'm with the OP. If could have gotten a ZL1 for only $7k more when I was looking at my 1LE, I would surely have gotten the ZL1.

My dealer did, in fact, have 2 ZL1's when I got my 1LE, but the price diff was $20k.

No contest.

Nice choice! Can't go wrong either way. As for the sunroof...I ordered my 1LE w a sunroof and would have it no other way. To worry about it breaking in an accident or hand going out it while upside down is rediculous in my opinion! If you get in an accident that bad in any car with or without a sunroof...bad things are gonna happen! Probably should have not been going that fast to begin with! LOL. The side windows can also explode and with no window net, the head or arm can go out the window as well...can't eliminate the side windows. As for head room...about 3/4 inch delta. I am 6'1" and not worried about it...just roll the seat back into "guido" ride position a little further and enjoy the air and sunshine!

Saying "LOL" writing about that bad of an accident is really shocking and disrespectful.

If I was as disrespectful as you are, I'd wish you to experience the same accident and then, come back talking about what you really know.

Fortunately, I'm not that stupid and I wish you'll never have to regret your sunroof (sunroof on a track car? nevermind ...). I wish you'll never have any accident, you'll probably never have anyway given the fact you're such a smart and skilled driver...

Next time, please, think twice before posting

I would say get the ZL1 it's the superior vehicle in every way. If you do want to save money with purchasing a 1LE, buy a low mileage used model. There are 8 listed for sale on page 1 of the classifieds in this forum alone, you should be able to score a very low price on one.

UPDATE

Wanted to update this thread I started, sorry for the delay. The deal on the 2013 Zl1 was dropped and a new deal on a 2014( ZL1,npp, 6speed, nav, and sunroof), was struck with a dealer within state. It ended up being about 10K more than the 1LE I was looking at out of state. I am very happy with my choice and wanted to thank everyone for their input.
