Cam, Nitrous, Stall car running 10.2?
So i've got a friend that says hes building a 2010 L99, cam, 150 shot, stall and DR's to run 10.3-10.2.
Is that possible?

Probably have to take a bunch of weight out of the car to get there with only those mods

very possible. i ran a 11.3 at 131 on a 125 shot with cam , full exhaust, rotofab , tune. on street tires with a 1.97 60 foot. it was also just sprayin like the last 1/8 maybe a lil more. on a progressive shot. so ya i say its possible. rhino should be close to doing it atm. or he may have went faster.

With weight reduction sure, without, I doubt it. I had a 4th gen that went 10.9 stock cubes and 10.00 with 150 shot, and it was 3300 cutting a 1.38.

it would be hard for rhino that ran a 10.8 not to pick up that much on a 150 shot. just sayin. it wont be easy and will take some good fuel and some work but it possible. its been done with a 200 shot alrdy.

But his car is not the average. Let's say someone hit 11.3 cam only and sprayed 150 would you expect them to hit 10.2? My 4th gen did that but it was a lot lighter. If I went 11.2 h/c and sprayed 150 I'd hope for 10.5 I think.

i fully expect to with tires and a clutch . the mph is there. but all im sayin its possible. very possible. these cars do well on nitrous . tq for big weight is a must. a cammed car spraying around 2800 rpm mark is gonna see around 700 tq to the wheels.
not sayin every car out there can or will but if that person makes it his goals and dont live 6000 above sea leave . i was also in 2000+ da . as u know it all in setup and what not. i mean right now i just play but if i plan on keeping this car for a while . which i do now. it should run 10.5 with very lil work. i know 10.5 is not 10.2 . but u get what im saying.

The issue with sprayed automatics is the 6l80's first gear. Hit it hard and launch in second gear and you can go places.

However IMO it's not very probable. Comparing the fastest L99 and then introducing nitrous is like saying you can go out a Robin Hood an arrow with another arrow with 1 shot. It's possible but unlikely. There is a big difference in going from an 11.3 to a 10.3. The lower you go, the harder it gets to add a tenth. |

My only nitrous passes at the track in Memphis were disappointing on the mast cam. No traction that night, couldn't spray till about 50 mph. 1.7s 60 on motor then hit the spray, I went 6.88 at 104 1/8th and 10.60 at 133 on my best pass. With the new cam, and good track prep, with the progressive controller I just installed and some suspension work, I SHOULD go 9.9s to 10.1x at about 135-137. I have tweaked converter lockup too for the gas, as in locking in 3rd and 4th.
Most cammed L99s with gas wont see past mid-high 10s on avg though. |

like i said it gonna take someone that wants the most out of their car. 9 are possible. rhino thats what i have to do in my car too. i have a progressive shot and had bottle temps up to 950 or so. tried to take a full hit and it eat my clutch up. i started sprayin about the 1/8 and progressed each gear change to a .5 sec ramp from 50% to 100%. bottle temps were way down too to help soften the hit. it helped alot. stock clutch. but im mph was alway 130's . thats all im was workin on cause no tire and no clutch at the time. also 125 shot

thanks for all the response. Sounds like yes, its possible, but you really have to massage the car and the driver to get it.

No way in the world. He won't even be close. Figure an L99 is about 330 rwhp stock. At 150, so you're at 480, and a stall. You'll be lucky to crack a 10. 10.2/.3 you need a serious setup which is way more than a 150 shot. Go look at all the cars that run that fast. Way more than a stall and a 150. If it was that easy all you guys would have low 10 second cars!!!!!!!!! |
