question about racing stripes. - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

been doing some looking on the interwebs and racing stripes.
as you can see I have a black ss and I want to add some British green racing strips in the same way the car cover has them from bottom of front lip wrapped around to the back. as I'm looking at strips they come in a lot of colors, but not british green that I can find. I also found that it's best to get them painted so I have a couple questions.

1. -this one is stupid basic- what type of style is that striping? rally strip?
2. where to find vinyl ones to try out in that color?
3. cost for vinyl stripes and the install?
4. is it worth trying to install them yourself (any tips?)?
4. cost of painted stripes? (for future reference)

just thought it would look good and would be neat with the cover on it's grey with black strips and take the cover off it's black with british green stripes?

any advice or direction would be great, hope I didn't miss a similar thread some where.

ebay, ones that are narrower are easier. look for how to videos on youtube.I had better luck with 3m stripes. Prices have come down alot.

Try a local vinyl/graghics/sign shop. I have factory rallys and did this to have my dovetail spoiler striped. They cut and installed them.You could probably order any color they don't stock.

So like the Indy pace car stripes correct?
To be technically correct, they'd be properly referred to as "Cunningham stripes."

I guess it's more like pace rally stripes.

mclark10 - thanks, I was hoping to gather a bit more information before contacting them. but it doesn't look like what I'm looking for is a "stock" color so that will probably be the only recurse.

im haveing the dealer install some torch red full body ( from front valence over car to exhaust ) and there viynal for i think 500 installed, Doubt they have british raceing green tho

Mine were 500 installed with 8 yr warranty on the vinyl and lifetime on the install. Not many people can/will do the bumper to bumper install as there are a lot of tough angles to deal with. I got mind done by Barnett Pinstriping in Houston. I also have the pinstripe on the outside.

Were you at ARD prefromance for that meet im pretty sure i saw your car there ?

guzaldon - Thanks!!! I think that the stripes turned out pretty good. I definitely recommend the pin stripes on the outside of the main stripes. It adds that little extra detail that really sets the stripes off in person.

JAB - Yes that was me at ARD. Sorry for the slow response. You can generally find me at West Houston Muscle on Saturday nights as well. Will be at the Lone Star Shootout in Baytown this weekend.
