Back in the early 80's, I had a chance to buy an All Original, numbers matching, Mint 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS for $10k and didn't do it!

What a BONEHEAD move that was!

Angry

about 10 years ago i was visiting family in NY (was living in Daytona at the time). I came up north cause my dad's friend had a dealer's license and we went to go to the auction. I was looking for a newER car a mid to late 90s thunderbird. I just sold my 88 Camaro a few days ago and wanted something a little newer. about halfway to where the auction was (it was in a small town in PA about 30 or so miles away from i was staying in NY), i saw a familiar car shape sticking out of a deck on the side of a house, i told my dad to stop and to back. we turn around and head to the house and under the deck was a nice dark silvery/gray 87 or 88 Monte Carlo SS coupe. it did not have the stripes that ran along the sides and over the fenders (they were in a envelope in the car never even put on by the current AND 1st owner). the car only had like 40K on it and was never driven in snow and was in ALMOST mint condition (get to that later) and he only wanted 3500 for it. why so cheap? cause the owners father while parking it under the deck smacked one of the posts with the driver's side mirror knocking it INTO the door and scuffing and partially caving in the left quarter panel. I only passed on the car cause i only wanted to get my new car, get temp tags on it and get back to Florida. I went to the auction and got my car only to find out that it needed rockers repainted and i ended up staying an extra month. If i wold have known that I would have gotten the monte carlo SS !

1965 Aston Martin DB5 - back 20 years ago I could've bought one for $10,000 in very good condition, I passed as it was red and all I could think about was the silver DB5 in the James Bond movies. Didn't think to get it painted...

Back in the 80s I really didn't really pass it up I just waited to long to get the funds for a Mint 1956 Chevy Belfair 210 for $2500. The lady told me she would hold it for me and I would be back in week with the cash but she didn't wait and some other guy came over with $2000 and bought it.

I think in 1999 when my sister urged my mom to buy stock in Microsoft, and the very next day it went up to around $250.00 per share. That's the best deal I've ever seen anybody pass on.

one night in the wee am one of my Dads girlfriends called drunk and wanted me to wake him up. I said no, so she asked if I wanted to come over and .... her instead. I was only 14 n some drunk MILF sounded good too [I apologies to the ladies in the house but I was 14.......]

Oh wait you said a car...........

The stand outs would be a nice 2nd gen for $300 or the Yenko Nova that would of been $500 or less that was covered in sap, I was just to lazy to go and ask.

When I graduated college dad offered me a corvette (my grad present - BTW I paid for college). We had 2 at the time an 86 and a 74. I loved the 74 but the 86 was a little faster. I took the 86. Never drove it sold it right away. I wish I had the 74 back.

I had a 99 Z28 on lease (to keep payments down) I was planning on buying it at the end of the lease. Ended up getting engaged, and couldn't pay for the VW (work car - could trash the camaro), the camaro, and a house. We were trying to live on 1 income and save all of her check. The Z had less than 36K miles, 3 yrs old, and I could have had it for less than $13K. I actually cried when I turned in the lease.

My dad passed up a GT350H for like $3400 in the late 80's. It had a blown motor or something like that. Said what really turned him away was that the paint was rough, and hes not a painter.

Ill never let him live that one down.
