What is this?
I detailed a 01 Camaro SS Indy Brickyard 500 pace car, parade car #2. I noticed when I was washing it that the car was super gritty on the rear bumper. I clayed the bumper and this was coming off. It was like claying a fine grit sand paper.
Can anybody tell me what this is and what the hell even causes something like this to happen?

If the car is an 01 and has never been clayed before I would expect nothing less. The rear ends of cars especially sports cars take a beating. The rear end of my camaro is always dirtier than the rest. That could be caused by any kind of contamination, but more than likely is was either just road grime or tree sap. Tree sap can make a mess out of paint.

Totally normal... Especially if it was a pace car on a track..

Huh..... Well thanks for the responses. Just had me a little confused and baffled that my gray clay bar was turning yellow. I knew something would come up due to the texture of the bumper while washing but never expected that.

If you think that clay bar looks bad, take a look at this one.
