What do you think H Pipe or X Pipe?

Im having 1 7/8 Dynatech Long tube headers with 3" high flow cats and the 3" Jba Competition cat back exaust installed on my car tomorrow. The cat back system comes with an H pipe I am thinking of cutting it out and putting a X pipe. What do you guys think if i put the x pipe will it change the sound by much? I was also wondering if will it take away from my torque? Here is what the system sounds like with JBA's high flow long tube headers and high flow cats and their cat back system with the h pipe.

I would leave the H-pipe as it gives it a true muscle car sound.

I have always loved the sound of the H-pipe vs X-pipe on the few cars I have owned.

i think h vs. x pipe really depends on the type of mufflers you're using. as a rule of thumb, on most modern musclecars, i'd say x pipe usually goes with bullet or race style mufflers like borla or corsa, and an h pipe usually sounds better with a chambered muffler.

i think the sound of the LS3 lends itself better to the sounds characteristics of a good x pipe/bullet mufflers combo. just my opinion though.

Well the two chamber flowmaster 3" catback comes with an xpipe.. but i think my drone would be less apparent if it were an H.

There's a reason most aftermarket systems incorporate a Xpipe, instead of the H. The Xpipe flows better, thus should show a HP increase.

LOL man this is your day to enlighten me. I read a quote from Flowmaster saying that they see no benefit to an X vs. an H except in very high HP situations. I assumed ours was an H but took a picture and thought 'that don't look like no H I have ever seen' . I am just going to stalk your posts.

Oh and I don't get much drone...obviously AFM is tuned out....

Our L99's don't have an H-pipe...we have the monstrosity of a resonator...but the LS3's do have the H-pipe, correct?

From the factory yes the LS3's have an H pipe. I have alot of drone because of my longtube / catback combo especially with the cam swap

From what i've learned through research and talking to muscle car heads, H pipe for sound X pipe for roughly a 5 HP gain. I lean towards sound myself, and i believe i made the right decision.

X-pipe will produce more HP and torq while reducing the exhaust tone by approximately 3dB in sound. Nascar using x-pipes for a reason...

Is that ~5hp regardless off the amount of mods or does it increase further with the mods you add?
