It will have more advanced and tuned versions of what the 1LE has. It will have a unique front with functional brake cooling ducts, a unique hood with heat extraction and air pressure evacuation vents, and a rear spoiler specifically designed for track. It will come with removable tow-hooks. It will have cameras front and rear that allow you to record track video on an SD card for which there is a slot on the dash. The car's electronics will integrate with GPS and allow you to record performance telemetry along with your video.

It will cost about $48,995.

It will make Mustang owners long to be Camaro owners. It will be a man-car; misunderstood by women, lusted after by men. It will be.... bad-ass.
Sounds to me like your guessing that GM is using the 1LE as a test mule of sorts. Letting the customers test out how good the suspension is, then tweak it and make it better for the Z/28. I can totally see that happening.

Except that the chassis for the 6th gen will be different from the 5th and developing a suspension on it won't help the 6th gen.

The engine will be a 302ci Direct Injected V8 making between 380 and 420hp. The second or third year of 6th gen Z28 will get a 1LE package just like the 5th gen did. I honestly think that other then some appearance packages, the 1LE will be the last major change to the 5th gen car. I would guess that most major development work is going into the 6th gen cars at this point.
Uh no

Just to add to your comments, if I remember correctly the Alpha chassis that will be used for the 6th gen Camaro was tested at the Ring in it's Cadillac ATS configuration, so that should give Chevy some good starting points to further refine the Alpha chassis.

The 1LE is fine for the Z28. Any more than that and your talking aftermarket, eh Pete. Remember it's gotta be streetable. It's the brakes, aero and power it needs to make it a Z28.

I swear i'm not trying to stir the pot here, but I know this post is going to do that lol.

What are you guys gonna do if GM makes the Z/28 like it was last time. Just the name on the V-8 Model camaro. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt the Z28 the second tier trim level on the 02 Camaro and SS was top of the line.

I'll continue to build our own version of the Z/28 that specializes in walking all over allegedly superior name plates. I have no interest in a z/28

They already kinda did that; it's the 1LE. The 5th gen Camaro isn't just a "new" retro remake. It's inspired by the 1969 Camaro but it's a totally new, modern car. The Z/28 will follow the same philosophy. Right out of the box it's not going to beat customized cars but few showroom models that run on the street do. However it will be a great starting point for customizing because things that are expensive to add individually like cooling, oil systems, transmissions, differentials, axles, hubs, etc. will already be there at a price point way cheaper than could be done piece by piece afterwards.

I can easily imagine a Pedderized Z/28 being downright scary on the track.

I think we're right on the edge of a new golden age of performance, and as long as governments of the world don't melt down under socialism and stupidity, we're about to see some incredible advances in the automotive world.

I don't think GM/Chevy will make that mistake again, they got enough flak from performance folks/potential purchasers when they wanted to name the current ZL1 as a Z/28. I think any Z/28 Chevy decides to build will be more like the first and very early second gen. Z/28 than the later watered down versions.
