Considering "Fully loaded" Camaro but with 6 cyl instead of 8. Opinions wanted!
I'm in the market for a new 2012 or 2013 Camaro and have been playing with the options for a while. I basically want everything that the 2SS/RS has, but with the 6 Cyl instead of the 8cyl version. It looks like an almost $10,000 savings between the cars, not including gas and operating savings.
Are there any 6Cyl Camaro owners that regret their purchases and wish they had the 8? I had a 2010 V8 and loved it. I sold it last year and am ready for another. The fun side of me says go for the 2SS or even ZL1, but the practical side of me says the half second savings on 0-100 is not worth the money. What say you? |

My first intention was to get a 2LT, it's very well equipped, like an SS, minus the horsepower.
Then I decided on the SS, because I really wanted the V8, plus it wasn't going to be my daily driver. It has to suit your needs, daily driver or not, etc. In the end you have to be happy, there's really no right or wrong choice. THESE CARS ARE AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT!

I have the 2LT/RS IOM/IOM Sunroof with the GFX package. I love it, the car is amazing. With what I paid for my Camaro I could have eazy bought an 1SS. Do I have any regrets, Nope.

I've seen a ton of threads on here of people that went from 6 to 8. I can only remember one of Someone going the other way. That should tell you something. If you don't care about power and looks is all that matters to you then a 6 should be fine for you. Many people think it doesn't bother them until they have a 6 and then they regret it. For me an SS might as well be a 6 since the ZL1 came out.

get the six, put a supercharger on it and still be 5k less that a ss, but more hp and faster....I have less than 30k in mine, and have almost all the 2lt upgrades, just no leather at his point....and yes a IPF Supercharger makes a huge difference.

My first opinion was I had to have the 8, then the day came at the dealer to make the choice. After driving both the 6 @ 8 I chose the 6. I did so because of reasons, my drive to work distance, fuel prices and quite frankly the 6 had enough power for me. The 2LT/RS package was my fit thati was in Aug-11. I had some paint problems with that camaro, so GM replaced it three weeks ago with a 2013 CRM 2LT/RS and again i choose another V-6.

Like its been said...you have to choose a car for YOUR needs.
I went withe a 2LT with all season tires since I live in a snowy climate. I don't want to deal with snow tires and I don't want a junker for winters. I wanted a 2LT because I like nice features in the car. I would never go down to a 1SS or 1LT. That's just me though. The interior is high on my wants in a car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

went for the 6 for practical reasons..if you're going to go 8, then might as well step up to a ZL1(no holding back) cuz that's what you will be regretting not getting..

I have a 1SS. Didn't want leather (love the cloth in this car), don't care about HUD or anything else, halos can be left to BMWs but HIDs would've been nice. All I wanted was moonroof, had to be standard and I wanted one of three colour choices. For me all the bells and whistles sound good but get old quick and I would never be satisfied with a 6 cyl. I would've just kept my Malibu instead. But everyone's different. I just see so many people with 6 cylinders "needing" to move to the v8 or spending their money modifying to get v8 performance. Others are content. Depends on you

And to the people saying you "might as well get a ZL1" these are priced out of reach for most people. Maintenance/repairs will also be at a premium with those brakes, magnetic suspension etc. I keep seeing people say this but the SS is still affordable to most and u can get used ones for decent prices. Zl1 not so much

I have a V6 and love it ( in fact my second V6). If all you want is the features and have no need for the V8 power or sound you will save several thousand getting the 2LToverthe 2SS.
