HID headlamp components

When an accident in March resulted in breaking the mounting tab and the housing on my right headlamp, I decided to take the broken one home and check it out in my spare time. Well, these are the components of our HID headlamps. Just couldn't resist breaking it down and checking out the electronics.

Googled it. I suppose so. There's a small element at the Y where the ring meets that looks like an LED. I'm really not at all familiar with CCFL. I really just wanted to disassemble the headlamp to check out the components.

Awesome, is there anyway that you can measure the diameter of the lens please? by chance any number identification stamped on it?

I'd like to change the lens in the stock set.

Thanks in advanced, JJ

Back to the halos: still trying to determine what type of illumination they use: the ring is clear acrylic, no type of electrode or connection actually connects to the ring itself. To me, it appears that a LED projects the illumination into the halo.

I haven't removed the lens from the housing, but it appears to be approx. 2 1/2 inches, no numbers or markings of any type visible

Can you take it further and disassemble the lens assy. Would like to see how the high beam shutter works.

Thank you greatly, I plan to eventually upgrade them with a clear lens and do away with the halo.

I have a non RS model so I opted to bake and install LED rings but if the factory halos are just using a fiber optic technique using a LED to light the halos then I suppose you RS guys might be able to convert to one of these fiber optic light illuminators. Just a thought?

Will get on that as soon as I can. I'm curious on that as well.

Hi beam works with a motor, it gets power when you hit the high beam and opens, removes the baffle out of the way so all the lights is free to come out of the protector.
