What Would Make You Not Purchase a ZL1?
With all of the confusing and conflicting information that has currently surfaced regarding the allocation, production, and availability of the ZL1, is there any set of circumstances that would make you decide not to purchase a ZL1?
For example, if ZL1 allocation numbers were so low (due to CAFE standards or some other reason) that one couldn't purchase a ZL1 for 6, 12, or 18 months, or if all dealers were asking $10,000 or more dealer markup over MSRP, or if there were not a convertible option available for the ZL1, or some other scenario with regard to the ZL1 that was not to your liking, would you decide to forego the ZL1 and purchase something else, such as a CTS-V, GT500, Boss 302, Challenger, Z06, a modified SS, or some other vehicle?

Price. If they are going to try and rape us on it, I would rather buy a used C6Z for the money. That's just my opinion.

Does not outperform or only marginally outperforms Ford's GT500 at the same or similar price point. If it costs $10k more but barely eakes out a win against it's direct competitor, I'd never look to buy one.

All things are possible with God. Just sayin.... as in making the impossible, possible.
For 'keepers of the faith' to believe anything else would go against they're very nature... Ive said this before and Ive said it again. I will not relent until my dream comes to pass. If it don't come today, it will come tomorrow. If it don't come tomorrow, it will come the next day. If it don't come the next day, it will come next month, next year, year after next. BUT. IT WILL COME. Never give up on your dreams people. To all the keepers of the faith..... declare NOW that God can and God will cause YOUR dream to come to pass. Not everyone on here is a "dreamer." Do not share your dreams with NON Dreamers.... Just saying..... Good post bear. Even I was tempted to get a price on a Shelby GT500. FORD never responded to my questioning... but in the end I realized.....What was I THINKING?????? Till then, I will go on dreaming. My dream is slowly becoming reality, and for many keepers of the faith on C5 you can actually see your dream is slowly becoming a reality too! (notice the later is a statement and is not a question) Your life will move towards your most dominant thoughts people. Can I get a hallelujah for the Mighty ZL1 that is coming to your town?

I respectfully nominate your post as POTD. While I'm not religious, in strict terms, I am spiritual, and while I don't go to church, I DO, talk to God. I feel He's been there many times in the past, and there has been very few things I've really tried for that I couldn't achieve. I feel, some how, as impossible as it seems at this point, that ZL1 is within reach in a few years. I don't have a problem with that. I'm going to be just as excited to see many of you get your cars and quite possibly may be just as excited for you as your are Let's be careful with the religious statements though. Not everone welcomes them, so let's all do our best to remain respectful Excellent post, IMVHO.

Price and/or 1/4 mile performance would be the deal-breaker for me.
The further the base price is over $55K, the more I'll consider my "options". If it makes it to $60K, I think I'll probably have to pass. Under 12 second 1/4 miles, the slower it is than 11.99 the more possibility that I'll reconsider, with my "definitely pass" point being anything over 12.3. And these are "real" and realistic 1/4 times....none of this below sea-level, winter air, drag radial, "factory freak" crap either. If I end up passing on the ZL1, I'd either keep my SS until the C7 Corvette comes out or get a low mileage C6 Z06 if the C7 Vette doesn't "do it for me".

I posted this way back in the thread that broke the news that the "Z28" would debut at the Chicago auto show. While admittedly I'm not religious, I thought it was appropriate. No disrespect intended, just having fun.
And to answer your question, there is pretty much nothing stopping me from getting a ZL1, my mind is made up and I'm as focused as can be. And when that day comes for those of us that do make the leap, we will be set free indeed.

Definitely price. Add to it if I find that all of the dealers are playing hardball with mark-ups then I won't buy one.
The asking price itself will be a stretch for me. The price has to be reachable for me to get it.
