Think it is a green wire off ofer's harness to the red wire off the camera harness.

Well mine is red, but none of that worked for me. I connected the two red wires together, but neither of them had power. If you connect the 2 wires together, where is the power coming from to power the cam?? And further more, how does the mirror know when the car is in reverse?? I connected the mirror harness red wire to power, and connected the camera power to the reverse light wires. Thats the only thing that seemed to make sense to me. I dont understand how everyone else hooked it up.

The mirror gets power when in reverse from the BCM, But the car has to be on at the time if not it will not get the power, If you have a 1SS or 1LT or LS then you do not have the power in the mirror.

I beleive the lights themselves are centered. It's the openings that are not centered due to the clips.

Thanks to this post and the awesome kit by Ofer and his help. I did the second half of the install yesterday, camera and wiring to the fuse box. Unfortunately with my OCD and making sure everything was centered and all it took me several hours. It works in the end. That is all that matters.

In those hours I made up a cardboard template to fit exactly in between the license plate lights and then in the center of that template I made a cut out for the GM camera. I am going to recreate that template on a piece of paper and post it here in case anyone can use it.

I also made a small template for each side of the GM camera bracket so that the holes were perfecty centered on each side.

I then used (4) GM push pin type retainers to retain it to the bumper. I had to go out and buy an angled drill just to be able to drill the holes in the bumper for the retainers. I have to get the photos out of the camera, but it looks real good back there!

I should be receiving my kit in a few days and this template would help me immensely. Cant wait!

When you are ready let me know as Ofer and I did this mod on my car right before CFII. It is an awesome addition.

To the OP excellent write up, very detailed and great pics. Job well done.

With the GM camera there are no view issues at all. You can see plenty more than you need to. I have a 2011 Terrain with a factory back up camera system and the one I just put in from Ofer... the actual camera picture looks better than the Terrain. Even the wife commented on it and she normally doesn't notice that kind of stuff.

The only issue I have with the "OEM" camera is that it is hard to tell exactly how far away things are. (especially if you are backing out while turning) I can be within inches of hitting something but on the camera it appears to be a long way away still. It will take some getting used to.
