Pirelli Scorpions or All season tires?
As I have mentioned in another thread, I'm going to have to get new tires soon. Here in New York we get some snow come winter, and I know the SS with PZeros (worn out as well) won't handle well. I was wondering if any of you can show me some pictures with the SS having scorpions or how the scorpions fair once the weather starts to warm up again.
Side note: if the scorpions aren't that good once it dries/warms up, is there a good and reliable tire that anyone can vouch for? I guess an all season tire would fit those standards, but I'm kind of a newbie to the whole tire situation and need some help

The Scorpions (along with any other snow tire) are strictly a snow/ice tire only. They perform just as bad on dry roads (not to mention warm weather) as the Pzeros do in 6" of snow and ice. If you get Scorpions, you will need a second set of tires.
Also keep in mind, all seasons really don't cut it when it comes to serious snow fall and are meant mostly for milder climates that get some snow but not much. |

I had all seasons this past winter, and I fared pretty well. I only got stuck once coming home from work (i live in the country, where roads aren't plowed till hours after the snow is done). I'm using Toyo Proxies

I had the all season on my old 2LS and it was fine during the winter here, I only took it out in the snow a few times and by then the snow was all plowed/salted. So it looks like I might get a pair of all seasons or tought it up with new Pzero's this winter

Keep in mind the Pirelli's are 10x better in snow over any all season tire. If you do go all season take a look at the Continetal Extreme DWS which have a reputation to be on of the best all seasons in snow.

I run Pirelli Ice + Snow starting Dec 1. They are great tires. I'll be going into my 2nd season with mine.

I traded to Goodyear Eagle GT. I'm not using the car in the winter, but as for durability P-Zero's don't go far. I find these tires (All Season) much better handling and not sensible to truck gutters on highway, while P-Zero are very sensible to that. That's my 2 cents. Price is OK too.

i would never recommend pirelli for a budget minded person...there are ALWAYS a comparable tire out there for less price.
