If you read the thread right below this one, i've been dealing with GM on this since beginning of September :(

Thiggin2,
Awesome info!!

Verio, let us know how the Service Manager reacts to this? It should be entertaining. He'll probably still try to argue it is a rock chip.

After his attitude on Thursday, I am not dealing with this yahoo anymore. I'm only going to deal with the person I have been dealing with at GM. He can work it out with the Service Manager.

If I PM can you please send - I'm having same problem with my 3 week old Yellow - can clearly see the black fender working through and the body contacting the fender

Take it to the top of management, it has to be the dealership. Must be a cheap ass, even though it doesn't cost them but time and staff.

I have had my car for 3 weeks now, 500 miles and was cleaning it yesterday and low and behold paint is chipping in the exact location noted on that service bulletin. Damn, last thing I want is a body panel repainted not at the factory. This sucks, will be seeing my dealer on Friday.

Basically, I've got paint chipping down to metal on the rear quarter panel of my car. My local dealership put a claim in to GM for warranty, and it was denied. The regional rep told the Body Shop Manager to only apply touch up paint.

The touch up paint looks like sh#%. I put in my record that I am completely dissatisfied with the attempt to repair the paint issue. I was told I would hear back from GM by Monday. It's now Thursday.

I called the bodyshop manager again today, this time I wasn't able to get a hold of him. However, my beef is... I don't see this rep coming around.

What are my recourses? Please don't reply with some of the over-the-top responses like picketing the dealership or brandishing a gun or what not.

If anyone has experience with similar issues and the GM warranty reps, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Picket the dealer. See what happens.

After my Rally Yellow 2LT crapping out 2 days after purchase and taking 26 days to fix, I then notice about an inch and a half of paint peeling under the right door.
I took it in to the body shop and they say that the area under the door is partly rubberized and the paint somehow "lost adhesion" to the rubber.
Anyway, 100% covered by warranty so they are going to fix on Monday.

UPDATE:
They fixed the spot at the body shop today and made the claim to GM - gave me a loaner for the day so overall service was great.

The refinishing was perfect so I'm happy but remain concerned that the quality of paint is poor overall and I will need to repaint in 2-3 years.
My car is rally yellow so any chipping shows up instantly...Where is cyber grey when you need it?

Add me to the list I lost approx 1" of black paint where the bumper meets the rear 1/4 panel approx 1/2" away from the wheelwell. I will be taking mine in as well tomorrow :(

Oh well what can you just hope the dealership will fix it.
