Mine never threw a belt but I didn't run it much , because as soon as we put it on we could tell it was out of round.

Did you send it back to get it inspected? If so what was their response?

Pulling it off tomorrow to send it back........again.

According to IW "this has never been reported as an issue", yet this is the second time it's going back for this issue off the same car.

They tried to say the crank is the problem, but the belt on the outside doesn't get thrown off. If the stock crank was bent, wouldn't the putter belt have the largest issue staying on? Farther out means more wobble or am I over thinking this?

Did you put a dial indicator on the pulley to see if it was a run out or eccentric problem?

It probably will never throw the accessory belt as it has a tensioner.

I'm closing in on 1k miles since my belt issue and no more issues. What brand belts have you been running?

I believe he is replacing with OEM belts, but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask.

I also don't know what all the shop did. I know they laser aligned it, but beyond that, I'd have to get with them to verify.

Ever come up with a verdict?

Don't know if there is enough room, but GM now makes a bracket with a tensioner and idler pulleys: 92252927

Verdict is........ The part is crap and is no longer on his car. It has been sent back to IW, again and they are taking their time responding..........again.

Looks like he is going to get his money back on the pulley, but he now has an extra hole or two in the crank from pinning the OD pulley on and will have to get his car tuned again for the reduction of boost.

The shop has been great, too bad the part hasn't. With a 3.6" pulley and OD cogs on a Maggie it was making just under 12 pounds of boost, which was right where he wanted to be. Too bad the OD crank pulley couldn't do it's job.

This has allowed me to save $500 on a new pulley and be happy where I am for now.........

I threw an AC belt soon after I first fitted my whipple a couple of years ago. Shredded it and it was on a Sunday so I went to oReilly's with the stock belt and they sent me home with a few options to try. Never threw another one again even though I hit much high revs.

That being said my new PFAFF engine has an IW 10% overdrive with 8 rib ... So I'll let you know if I have the same issues when the engine is refitted.

FYI my Holden SSV Commodore back in Australia (Pontiac G8) threw the belt a few times too. I was cammed and running about 450rwhp. Holden fitted the idler pulley under warranty when I told them it had thrown ... Even though the car was heavily modified.
