Question Winter tires for LT RS...

Hey guys. I'm preparing for my first winter with the Camaro and getting pretty confused with this whole Tire-Buying process.

First off... if anyone (Albertan) has a set of winter tires+rims that'll fit a 2013 LT RS, and they're for sale, PLEASE lemme know. Hell, even if you just have 245/45R20 tires, I'll take em' for a good enough price. Anyways, moving on...

I've found a tire+wheel package on Tirerack.com that's super affordable- Blizzaks and rims- but the package is 17". This is a bit of a jump down from the 20" I'm running now... will those 17" ones fit?

Secondly, Tirerack is being pretty obscure on the TPMS (Tire pressure system). As far as I can gather from them, I need to purchase a brand new set of sensors with new tires? But do I really need to do that, or can the dealership (When they install) just reuse the current sensors on the car?

This whole thing has been pretty confusing and I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on it for me...

I always recommend UrbanX from Calgary. Super cool guys and great prices.

If you don't get to Calgary often then check out 1010tires They are from Richmond BC and are having their Free Shipping sale. I have used them in the past and their packaging of the tires mounted on the rims and balance was excellent.

I think it's totally worth getting tires on separate rims for winter and summer. You can do the swap yourself instead of spending $40ish for each tire to swap each time. Re-setting the sensors is really easy as well so getting sensors is worth it.

Hey, thanks much for those places. I'll give those Calgary guys a call and see if they have any options on Monday.

Any clue about the 17" question?

I have 17" rims for Winter on my LT. They are BMW replicas but I think the fit might depend on the rim though.

There are lots of take offs all over the net for these cars. We put 18 " Firestone Winterforce on stock steel wheels. From Tire rack. Car behaves very well. Don't worry about TPMS unless the take off wheels come with them.

I have 4x 18" Michelin X-Ice 3. Works well, however, heavy storm over 2 foot of snow will barricade you until you've built up enough momentum.

You might want steel rims to weight down your vehicle a bit for traction.

Just saw four new take offs with 18 '' steel wheels on CL in Vancouver for $385.00.

Thanks but it's a little late. I just bought a set of tires from Tirerack.com.

But I appreciate it!

NP, just make sure your rims are steel or something heavy, otherwise you'll just float like you're skating on ice.

Traction is a pain when you're using light rims.
