Need Tires on Stock '10 SS Wheels...

My 2010 SS is my daily driver. I live in Tennessee and although the weather here doesn't get too harsh, I'll need new tires if it snows AT ALL this winter...

I've noticed that a lot of people go with wider tires than the stock 245/275s that come on the stock SS wheels. My question is, what's the widest tire I can safely fit on the stock wheels for daily driving and the occasional straight line race?

My car has never seen the auto-x track and before it does, a new set of wheels and tires will be purchased. I don't take my car to the strip, just race a few buddies from a dig at an old track near here. I daily drive my car 50 miles a day to and from work.

I've got in mind a set of Yokohama Parada Spec X. I have a set on my car already and they've been pretty good and being that the car is my daily, I'd like some all weather tires to ensure some traction in the wet/snow. However, I'll take other suggestions as well!

So how big of tires can I squeeze on the stock wheels 'safely' and are their any suggestions on tires other than the Paradas?? Thanks in advance!

275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel

According to most tire manufacturers, the 245 IS the widest you can go on an 8" wheel, and 275 is the widest you can go on a 9" wheel.
