I use a remote controlled hydraulic powered dohicky.

If it bothers you that much get a microfiber towel made into a glove and just keep it in the glove box. Maybe they even make such a thing.

I put my hand flat around the curve of my trunk lid and close it.

Is this a serious question? If so simple answer is never open it, then you don't have to worry about how to close it.....

Really now there are much worse things that touch your paint than fingers.....I think some people just need to chill and stop worrying so much about silly things like this.
