Inside the mayo jar, something was mentioned about the "one Ellie" (whoever she is?) mixed up and stirred with "mo' power"...which apparently is NOT a nod to Chrysler, but refers to an "intoxicating blend of spices, the root cause of palpitations and ungodly desires"...

They owned ZL, and I'm not sure what their agreement was with GM regarding the SS moniker they used on their 4th gens, but I have never heard of them owning the name Z28.

4th-Gen SSs were a co-operative venture with GM, done on a "2-sticker" basis...which is apparently no longer acceptable... GM "owned" the name; SLP "converted" Z/28s to SS specs under exclusive contract with GM, just as they "converted" Formulas and Trans Ams into "Firehawks" with so-named Firestone tires. And just as they "converted" some Trans Ams into "Comp T/A"s with so-named BFG tires.

Let's not give up, but there will be a long wait. What to do until then? Why tinker with our current Camaros, that is what. The time will go fast.
So many are confused about the relationship of the SS to the Z28. Chevrolet's fault really. Glad to see them back on track naming the top dog Camaro ZL1. It fits.

The 1LE SEMA concept is about as close to a Z28 formula as there could feasibly be in the 5th Gen Camaro.

This, folks, from the heart of the ZL1 Section...
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181043 I wonder how those poll numbers will change after next week's ZL1 price announcement? |

Look at the 4th gen. 93-2002. 9 years with a big revamp half way through. I can definitely see GM doing the same thing. |

The 5th is selling extremely well, why would GM risk changing things before they have to?

Gen-5 through MY '15...
Expect Gen-6 in showrooms sometime in CY '15 as a MY '16...just in time for when the stricter CAFE edicts come into play. And what better way to give Gen-5 a send-off than with a year or three of LS7'd Z/28s... |

1) The pony cars are going to have to have a global appeal, the new 2015 Mustang will set the pace, so the Camaro will immediately follow to keep pace. Expect a major transition that happened with much success in the Gen1 to Gen2 changes. 2) The Gen5 is too heavy and has too many visibilty issues on an outdated (no more development) platform to last more than a few more years; thus the eternity waiting on the Z/28 3) The slotted Alpha platform (rear drive) for the ATS Cadillac needs a high production partner like the Camaro 4) As Lowdown pointed out you have new CAFE regulations. So why not go to a lighter platform that will complement the newer engines.
