Well it looks nice but so does my car and my car makes more RWHP and is built at a lot less the cost!! This is just a money grabber, no orginality at all, just another limited edition that the regular 9-5 working stiff can only dream of!! Il take my 677RWHP for only 26K any day!!! Jay Leno and all the other money mongrals can have the COPO CRAP, ill stick with my custom built with some originality and pride any day!! Way to sell out Chevy not Impressed one bit

Delivered from GM Performance, will it make 1,000 hp, in any version? No.

Will they make 900 hp? No.

Could they? Yes...

Splitting hairs is a very fine art...
with a fully forged ls7 , built for boost with a 4.0 whipple, not only is 1000hp attainable, but easily surpased...i hit 800hp + with a ls3 and a kb sc with 3 3/4 pulley and mild cam on stock bottom end...on 93 octane...i assume these untitled cars are built for 110 octane and above...if internals could hold it and ls3 was lower compression , i could go from 9lbs boost into 17-18 easily and hit 900 with no effort...can,t imagine a whipple 4.0 with 20 lbs boost dialed in with 115 octane not hitting 1000hp or better...we are not talking rwhp..hell the zl1 street version warranty car has 580hp with a tiny 1.9 eaton, which is clearly nothing like a 4.0 whipple..and has to drive on 93 octane , not racing fuel like the copo

I guess I dont get how this makes the General a sellout???!! They picked 69 people at random who were interested in the cars. The price is marked correctly to the Drag Pack Challenger and Cobra Jet. Not only is it marketed correctly if you were to follow inflation prices from 1969 Base SS vs 1969 COPO this car is right in line.

Thats great your home built car makes 600+Rwhp (<--- You can thank GM for sticking to a well thought out powerplant since 97 for this). Now how many Mid 9 second passes have you made in it?? Can your car fall into the guidelines of NHRA Stock Eliminator??

GM produced a car that the public wanted!! Ask the Thousands who filled out the surveys and drooled @ the SEMA show. If you cant afford it so be it, take a seat in the grand stands, watch some good racing, and support the home team!

Amen to that. Some people just don't get it.

Seriously people? "Money grabbers"...."Chevy's just trying to cash in"..."too rich for my blood"...."a get rich scheme for GM"..."crazy, crazy pricing" ???

Maybe people should have to pass a test to be able to post on this particular thread. A test to qualify one's knowledge on the tradition and history of special production cars built specifically to compete within the rules of specific sanctioning race organizations.

Second, you must have rudimentary and basic understanding of the factors that determine manufacturing costs of an automobile.

Finally, to post in this thread, you must be happy with your lot in life and you can't feel that you are the poor oppressed masses being exploited by big government, capitalists and the bourgeois.

We're not doubting these engines can make 1100 hp. We're just saying theyre strict guidlines and rules to each and every class. These classes are pretty much dictated by power to weight ratio to make things as fair as possible. As far as i know there isnt a class in stock eliminator that would allow for a 1100hp 3k lb car...

Very helpful info... http://www.dragzine.com/features/und...ck-eliminator/

All cars are classified by using the factory shipping weight, divided by either advertised factory horsepower, or NHRA-rated HP.* I will use my car as an example, a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo.* It has a factory shipping weight of 3,444 pounds, and a factory horsepower rating of 170.* 3,444/170 = 20.56.* This will classify me into the DF/S (D Front wheel drive/Stock) class.* All cars are classified this way, into one of 51 classes of Stock Eliminator.* Classes run from AA/S and AA/SA (AA/Stock and AA/Stock Automatic) down to W/S and W/SA for rear wheel drive cars and trucks, plus five front wheel drive classes AF/S to EF/S.

AA/Stock would be for the highest factory rated horsepower cars.* Some Mopar Hemis, 440′s and Max Wedges, big block 427 Fords, 427 and 396 Chevrolets, as well as some newer cars – LS-1 Firebirds, supercharged Cobra Jet Mustangs and the new DragPack Hemi Dodge Challengers are in this category.* Cars with a shipping weight/horsepower ratio of 7.50-7.99 pounds will fall into AA/S.* W/S is for four cylinder cars only, with a weight to horsepower ratio of 24 or more.* NHRA publishes their Classification Guide on their website;* you can look up your car to see what class it can fit.* Cars not listed in this Guide are not eligible for Stock Eliminator.

So the cobra jet and drag paks are in the 7.5-7.99 class. A 1100hp copo is at 2.8. No such class for this, not even close.

I understand some of you can read the rule book. But just to put things into perspective where 550hp would put you in ET's.

^ This is my race engine, Its a 6.0L 11.0:1 SCR LQ9, Trickflow heads, 240/244 .613 .598 109LSA cam, Stepped Longtubes, Vic Jr, JW Performance Flexplate, ARP bolts through out motor.

^ It calls this car home! 9" Rear end 33 spline axles, 4.56 gears, Powerglide, 4300-4500stall. 2980lb Race weight!

We are hoping to run 10.20-10.60 on a good day!!! Best this car has 60' is a 1.4x The previous motor was a High compression 406SBC making around 425bhp. Best it ran was a 11.52 @ 113mph.

Soooo with the COPO's first pass out on the supposed 500hp motor running mid 9's with little effort id guess you could wipe your rear with that rule book!! I doubt the Super Cobra Jets running mid 8s are only 550hp either!

For those that read the rule book. We compete in PRO and Street Legal Summit Racing NHRA classes. Just a 2step and a Transbrake

On the FEARED Mustang dyno, for those that worry about Dyno Numbers

A couple of things. Has anybody seen the bore and stroke specs on this "327"? If its the same as the 5.3 in the in the trucks, its actually a 325. I know it's ony 2 cubes, but I'm a stickler for details. I always made fun of Ford for calling their 4.9 a 5.0, so now I hope I dont have to make fun of GM for calling their 325 a 327.
And, am I the only one who noticed the significance of that 20129562 PN? 2012 is the model year and 9562 is the next COPO# following 9560 and 9561. 9560 was the the number used on the ZL1 69 Camaros and 9561 was the number used on the L72 69 Camaros. So I guess we can call these COPO 9562. I'm aware that COPO 9562 was used on L72 Chevelles in 1969, but these are the first COPO 9562 Camaros. Now I'm thinking......What would happen if I went to a dealer and ordered PN 19699560?.....Do you think I'd get one of those 69, 1969 ZL1's......Nah...I doubt it, but it's fun to think I might!

Trust me, I understand. I have known about the car and the engines for a year now. I have drag raced for 20 years and had a bad #ss Super Stocker. Anybody who class races know there is the horsepower factor in the NHRA and then theres the real hp. I thought you guys would like to know what these are making, if you don't that's fine with me.
And your right, there is no 1100 hp class, I never said that, but there will be super stockers making it. I promise you that.
