From a dealers perspective they can sell a car without paying a salesman a commission or paying any interest. No one feels slighted in his selling area because the car was sold to an out of town broker.
Several dealers around here have gone this route. Others have told me that if a broker BUYS at 3000 over surely they can sell it for more than that.
It truly is supply and demand when these guys are calling all the dealers with standing offers. They are the ones who are causing the numbers to get crazy.

My local dealer is just like many others. he wants to sell cars an build relationships in the local area. He does not mark up over MSRP. Now if you are from another state he may or may not want a markup. He is not stupid. They all know what the brokers are doing.

To some dealers it's a quick hit. No one ever knows they had a car. Of course it's hard to hide that from employees and other people who see the cars arrive and then leave on another transport.

I think the moral of the story is to be patient.... it is easy to find a dealer who will order you a new Camaro at MSRP.

If a dealer has 15 Camaro orders made at MSRP, and only 1 unsold Camaro physically in stock... he would be a fool to offer it for MSRP. He would be left with NOTHING to show potential customers.. Nothing to test drive.. Nothing to help a customer make his/her decision on features...

The $3000 over MSRP is not "price gouging"... it is just another OPTION for a customer to use to get their new Camaro faster. "Price Gouging" would be if the dealer didn't give the option of ordering the exact same car from the factory, for MSRP , and just waiting a few months for it to arrive...

Patience is a virtue fellas....

today i had a good and bad experience with the new camaro. I have been looking at the camaro as a new car as a replacement for my 01 toyota camry. But as i went in to Bill Kay Chevy in lisle IL with my father i was very happy to see that they had a 1 LT in stock. When i sat inside of the car it felt right, and the pics do not do the interior of the car justice, looks much better in person. But that is when the positives stops. From the 5k over list price to the jerk of a salesmen the whole event was a wash. Hopefully by the end of the summer hopefully their will be deals to be had.

Two dealers in Pensacola FL

Pete Moore Chevrolet
103 New Warrington Road
Pensacola, FL 32506
http://www.petemoorechevrolet.com/
Toll Free: 800-477-2438

Quote from email inquiry:
"We have placed the market value of the 2010 Camaro at $4,000 over MSRP for order units. Delivery time is approximately August/September. If you would like to test drive a Camaro, we have a LT2 and a 2SS in stock that we purchased from other dealerships for higher than the market value. I do not know of any dealership that is selling the Camaro at Supplier pricing, since the Ebay market price is approximately $7,000 over MSRP.

I know this is not the news you wanted to hear and wish you the best in your search. If you would like to order a Camaro, please give me a call."

This second one is a short-term avoid based on the temporary markup, I've had good experiences here otherwise.

Sandy Sansing Chevrolet

6200 N Pensacola Blvd.
Pensacola, FL 32505
Sales: (850) 637-8981
http://www.sandysansingchevrolet.com/

Quote from inquiry email:
"Thanks for inquiring about the all new Camaro. We are ONLY getting fourteen Camaro's this year. We will honor supplier pricing when the Camaro become for available. At this time all our Camaro's are pre sold units. We are asking $2,500 over MSPR on base and $3,200 over on SS model. We will honor your College purchase program rebate. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or simple reply to this message."

Several other dealerships in my area are selling at MSRP but currently are not accepting supplier pricing for the Camaro.

Maybe we need to change Morlan's motto to:

If Morlans ON the back of your car, you paid too much!!!

I’ve been reading the site for quite some time, but haven’t felt the need to respond until now.

If anybody wants the e-mail I received from Chevrolet in Feb 09 stating “preorder one at introductory prices” send me a PM and I’ll forward it. If you pre-ordered this might give you the ammunition to force them to stick to the prices at which you pre-orderd. Also, I just left the dealer from looking at another 2SS they just received. I wanted to see firsthand what I ordered. Only thing mine is Black and this was a Rally Yellow one. One last note. They are selling them at MSRP.

The Dealer is:
Sycamore Chevy
Salesman: Tom Lisella
Terre Haute, IN
812-234-6661

They have a 1LT Orange and 2SS Yellow in stock. The original buyers backed out. Can you believe that?

Pricing Issues on PreOrder/PLEASE HELP!!!!

I preordered a 2010 Camaro on October 14, 2009. I was contacted about three weeks ago by my sales person saying my car was on a train on its way to Tulsa! I asked the exact price on the vehicle so that I could arange financing as I was only given an aproximate price of $38,950.00 at the time of order and told it could vary by $1,000.00 or so depending on the destination charge. I was never able to get an answer out of her as she could not get an answer out of her Sales Manager? After being provided my vin# and everything from the dealership I found my car on their web site for sale with an MSRP of $37,480 and a sales price of $41,005.00? I contacted the dealership and my sales person was unaware of this and was going to check and call me back. I did not get a call from here so I went to the dealership and visited with the Sales Manager that informed me that "things have changed" since I placed my order? He said that they did not expect that the car would go over so well? He then told me even though I preordered my vehicle if I though I was going to pay less then $10,000.00 over the sticker price I was nuts? I have contacted GM and they contacted the dealership and thought they had a purchase price of $41,005.00 worked out with them until the Sales Manager called me back and said that their minimum price they would sale it to me for would be $45,005.00? I contacted GM back and they said that there is nothing further they can do to help me? Is there anyone that has advise for me on who I can contact to get help? My car is suppose to be at the dealership this morning and my sales person says that the Sales Manager plans on calling me and telling me that it is there and that I have 24 hours to pick it up, if not he can sale my car????
