probably dont need one, installed at the dealer, all parts are available so no kit is needed, only the actual shims, if necessary.

Most people suggest 3.70 gears for the A6. You should also look into a transmission converter as well from what I've read.

Yea I know that a converter is in order also, also some better axles. But then again one the members ran axles in his supercharged car,,,but I'd feel better with better axles in the future

Are you sure? Here are the final ratios of the SS with a 3.45 and a 1LE with the 3.91:

SS: 10.38, 7.14, 4.93, 3.45, 2.89, 1.96
1LE: 10.40, 6.96, 5.08, 3.91, 2.89, 1.955

the 1le also has a shorter tire.

1le can get 107 mph in third which means a shift to fourth in the 1/4 around 1250 feet.

ss can get 114 in third, most run 108-112 in the 1/4.

with that said, I admit I have not drag raced my camaro yet, bought in June and it's hot as hades ever since.

what gear are people with stock ss going across the finish line in?

3rd is the gear to use in a stock SS across the traps. The 1LE's rear tire is 0.81" shorter so it will have a bit more torque multiplication. I'm just not convinced it'll be a couple cars worth..

The drag racer would say gear so you can finish the quarter at the rpm around where you make peak horsepower.

The mostly driver/rarely race guy would say do a bit more gear over the 3.27's.

that's what I thought, so that means the 1le will need to hit fourth before the end. or some taller drag radials for a track day can also help keep it in third. either way, it's not going to be faster in the 1/4 than the ss.

but again, line up on the highway and the 1le will get the jump.

So would I see any gains in the 1/4 if I were to put the 3.91s in my SS?

With the power you're putting down I wouldn't go 3.91s, I'd go 3.73.

Heck no with his power level he should use 4.11s.... (4.10s whatever)

Auto or stick?

3.73 might be right for an auto, I don't know.

4.10 for a stick would be the ideal ratio at high 400s whp

If there weren't so many horror stories about the Richmond gears breaking I'd go with the 4:10/4:11's....the 3:91 seems to be the gear of choice on here but some guys have the Richmond gears and love em tho

With 3.91s, a stock auto has a 1st gear ration of 15.8 and doesn't have a problem spinning 1st, 2nd and start of 3rd gear. With the amount of power he's putting down, he would never hook up.

does he even have an auto? besides, going to the track on street tires is silly and IMO for bone stock fast lists only.
