I have no idea where this is, but what's the speed limit there, and did he come around a corner? I could see this happening if he was doing 40-50 and didn't have much warning...

edit: Also, viewing this with no sound at work, so no idea what he said afterwards...

it is on the tennessee/n carolina/georgia border area. i think speed limit is 35 to 40, it has 318 curves in 11 miles. the area where this happened he should of had more than enough time to see the rock slide had he been paying attention and going the limit. i have been on the dragon many times on three different bikes at slow to too fast speeds and never had any problems seeing what is ahead. you just need to focus.

DA driver was too busy watching the news crew and should have been watching the road. But, what's with the State Patrol not putting up signs and flares? Obviously they had time to do this, if the news crew had time to get notified and drive to the scene.

i don't think that it was a news crew that filmed it. just video that someone gave the news station.

Says right below the video that Photojournalist Jerry Owens was shooting video of the rock slide.

here's a paragraph from the news story:

10 News photojournalist Jerry Owens was called to the rock slide just after it occurred. While he was shooting video of the slide, a car coming around a curve became distracted and did not notice the debris covering the roadway until it was too late.
