The LS7 is hand built at the Performance build center, when that plant first opened it was to have a max capacity of 15,000 engines a year. They build the LS7, LS9, I believe some of the hand built LS3 engines are built there and I think a few others. Not to mention that they produce engines for the crate engine market, its most likely purely a capacity issue.

Though with the 2014 Corvette being LT1 only for a time clearly they have some free capacity probably until the 2015 higher performance Corvette model comes out.

I would expect a LS7 camaro to be between there so 8-9K more is what would make sense. So 45-46K. Obviously, I would love for it to be more toward the 40K range, but I'm not sure that would happen.
Assuming you get the 1SS/1LE without RS package, that is the one that would be $37k
If you got it with 2SS or other options, you will be in the low to mid $50's, which is getting close to ZL1 money.

If it came out as a Z28, you may have no choice but to get the 2ss option, kind of like the ZL1, there are not many options. They will probably stick the price just under the ZL1 knowing that the NA guys that don't want the FI of the Zl1, will go for the Z28

Hey, will the hand-built LS7 have a catch-can, and if not, why would that be?

Fair question.

Oh yes he would comment, giving the right conditions he would talk like a Parakeet .

Ok, Well that would be great although the ZL1 still has to be king to follow its heritage. I would love to see the Z28 back. Either way I would like to see it happen. An earlier comment on fuel consumption with the ls7. The CAFE standard and with the C7 getting the DI engine that would up the MPG for the corvette so this is definitely possible so that GM can stay with in the targeted CAFE for 2014.

Never know I guess, but if it is real, I think they would leave the LS7 name to it because it is well known. The LT4 was a while ago in the corvette
