Being a previous Vette owner I can understand the OP's excitement about both vehicles. I agree with most of the posters here in the sense that comparing these two vehicles is rather pointless. They are both vastly different vehicles with vastly different purposes (by the way, golf clubs fit just fine in a C6 trunk). I've now owned both and agree with the OP that they are both just wonderful vehicles. It's interesting to note how some Camaro owners feel about towards Vette's...the same can be said about Vette owners though. To me, they both fly under the same flag and in my opinion both are a great tribute to the genius of Chevrolet/GM. I love my Camaro but my heart will always be with the Corvette and I hope to own another one eventually. Hopefully the garage will contain both someday but until then I'm gonna have fun driving the Camaro.

Welcome to sports car land buddy. Law enforcement is always watching for the Vette, Ferrari, Porshe, Viper etc doing just 1 mph over the speed limit.

Dons 45th, Thanks for the info on the M6 grand sport being equipped as it is. But here is the thing, I drove a regular C6 2011 vette and I know it is no GS but honestly if felt slower than my intake exhaust SS from 0-50 but you can tell the car pulls faster from 50 + like the cam was different but to say 210 hp more sounds kind of not right but then again my past L99 would've been slower than the C6 I drove in every way. I guess some Camaro SS are freaks and some are slugs that's what I seen from owning a 2011 L99 and a 2012 SS LS3. My LS3 would kill my past L99 big time still on stock tune.

Im looking forward to when my better half gets a Camaro so i can do my own test. I came from several Camaros (74, 89 RS, 89 Iroc, 92Z, 93 & 95Z) and also the pontiac fbod (97, 98, 02 TAs) so there is a special place in my heart for all of them. I didnt get a Corvette until 2004 and then again in 2009. Performance wise my 02 TA "felt" as quick as the 04 vette, though the numbers really didnt bear that out. I know the 2004 vette was a superb car and had a much different mission in life than the TA. Both were LS1 powered cars.

Trading up to a 2009 vette and getting the LS3 was an entirely different ballgame. The previous car had a tune, Borla exhaust, halltech CAI, and yet this new one felt so much quicker new that the difference was night and day. My only mod on the new vette was swapping out the air bridge from stock to the Z06 and also getting a Corsa sport exhaust. The car is a beast and while most of the time i baby it there is that 5% of the time i drive it like it was meant to be driven.

If only i had waited one more year i could have gotten the GS model - if i had known GM was going to do such a thing. But im happy with the narrow body Cyber Gray coupe. Some day this car will be paid for and it will still be a head turner and a wonderful car.

Im hesitant to get rid of it and "trade up" to anything else, because some days i find myself wishing i still had the 89 IROC (black with electric blue stripe, 5.7 TPI, ttops) or the 92Z (dark red with 5.7 TPI & dual cats) and i dont want to keep repeating the cycle. Sometimes what you really want is right in front of you.

When the new Camaro comes, hopefully soon, it will look great in the garage next the vette and all those years of memories of my youth. And also when that happens, the Silverado will have to be parked in the driveway nexxt to the Cruze to make room for this new edition - as we too are a Chevy family.

Cheers

While the Vette is obviously awesome, I'd rather take the money I save by not buying the Vette, put it into mods for the Camaro, and still be able to take more than one person with me.

All I can say is I had a 05 C6 Vette with 16000 miles and traded it in on a 2010 Camaro SS & if one would give me $90,000 I would get the Camaro ZL1 over the Corvette ZR1 anyday. The abouve question was a very good one. Why do 99% of Corvette Owners drive 10 mph under the speed limit????

I have a bone stock GS and it is at least a half second faster than my SS when it was headers/CAI. Clicked off 12.6 right off the street with my wife driving and 90+ degrees out.

If you take time and actually look at who is driving 90% of corvettes the question will answer itself.

A very very verrryyy small person! My 2&5 year olds are cramped in my SS! With that being said, they are the reason I don't have a vette(YET)
