I am right at 700rwhp running ID1050X and an aux pump-usually keep my percent about E65 but my duty cycle is at about 60%. Not sure why they insist on ID1300 unless they want some headroom for future growth.
For entertainment this guy said Nickey Performance said he was fine to run 1200 injectors with a boost a pump, he hasn't been back to this site since his last post, probably because he couldn't find anybody to tune it or if they did he is saving for a new set of pistons. https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=614269 |

Those guys are using 1300 injectors and fore fuel pumps because they are trying to achieve much more than 700 whp. I have had dealings with two of the mentioned shops and along with the recommended 1300 injectors are ported or aftermarket heads, cam with supporting parts, ported or larger superchargers with larger throttle bodies, cooling modes to run 100% E85. The 1050X can be used with what is being mentioned by bsn, but that is the difference.

When you log injector duty cycle and fuel pressures you find out what can and can't be done. I won't say on the budget mod's what can be done keeping it safe with E because people get all mad (along the lines as the first post). Buy the monitoring equipment and find out or pay a tuner you trust and he might overbuild it either for profit or with future mods in mind.

Running a fore triple here with ID 1300. I’m well over 800whp on e60 . Car put down 791 with e30. Ported sc /heads ,cam /supporting parts - cooling mods/nw 103
, went with a fore triple as I didn’t want to revisit the fuel system when I wanted to something bigger . I only see about 40-50% duty cycle running e60 . Makes me happy that I’m not pushing my fuel system ..

M6 - I don’t know what I’m making on pump gas as we never did a pump gas dyno run . we only have 90octane up here in Alaska . I would imagine low 700’s Thank you - this was done on a mainline hub dyno

When it reaches that 3-4K rpm and the boost starts to kick in…there is a profound difference in acceleration.. love the spool sound of of the cai Perf mech said the CAM upgrade with headers and mid pipe would add another 70-90 whp.. anyway, I asked about things to be aware of regarding E85 and engine TLC.. he mentioned when storing….do so with only 91 or higher octane vs E85.. plus on E85 important to let engine get up to temp..especially when 50 degrees or colder.. engine can be “crabby” until you let idle for 1-2 min Any other guidance regarding E85 convert and engine TLC? |

Just run a few tanks of that before storage along with the Marine Stable fuel treatment and you will be fine.
What is your injector duty cycle now? I can't imagine you can make any mor HP until you get larger injectors. |

perf mech said I was at 75% right now…..further that “I would NOT necessarily need upgraded injectors with cam and header / exhaust upgrades..” So long as I am shooting for around 700-750hp. He said when you start pushing 800-900+….yes….that is when he typically upgrades injectors. buddy of mine who has the same engine as I in his 69 nova had his work done in a custom IL perf shop…. His perf mech said same thing. New SC &upper pulley….etc for 850-900 hp then injector upgrade from what I have make more sense.. Last edited by Ckmerc; 08-21-2023 at 08:48 PM. |

Generally, 80% is considered the maximum recommended duty cycle. Some people run a much higher duty cycle but I would suggest you get a second opinion. Fuel is the key to long life on a performance engine, one lean spike under full power and you'll be replacing pistons. With only a boost a pump I would think your E85 duty cycle would be much higher.
