Personally, I think the Lingenfelter Kit is over-kill. It duplicates all the hardware that comes with the gears (i.e. ring gear bolts, crush sleeve, and pinion nut come with the gears and the kit). Don't get me wrong, it is a very thorough kit, and includes both Pinion Gear Bearings, but no bearing races. I used the LPE kit when my 3.91's were installed. My installer did not understand why pinion gear bearings would be changed without replacing the races too (makes sense to me). They wanted it done right, so they ordered the pinion bearings (w/ races) from the dealership. I also ordered the (2) carrier bearings (w/ races) from the dealership too. In the end, they used one set of pinion shims from the kit, and re-used the stock carrier spacers. I ended up with about 20 lbs. of unused shims and spacers!!! My installer cut a little bit off the cost of the labor and asked if he could keep the remaining shims, spacers, bearings. Worked out good for both of us, but if I had it to do over again, I would probably just use this "half-kit" instead, and order my bearings (w/ races) through the dealership. Cheaper in the long-run. Just my .02 cents!!!
