Just completed the ultimate zl1 mod

Just paid this baby off 2 years sooner than the loan term. she's all mine now.
Paid off my work promaster 2500 off a few years ago also. No car payments for me for a while. I should now focus on that retirement account.

Congratulations!

Good for you!! I'm sure it's a great feeling to be out from under those loans.
You're right to focus now on your retirement account (Roth) and try to put some extra money against your home mortgage principal regularly. Some sacrifices now will make a big difference in the long run.

You are right. I'm 44 years old and had a late start on my Roth account. I work for myself and never had a 401 till late in 30s. i have 15 years left on the mortgage time to double up some payments on that.

Depending on the interest rate of your mortgage you may be better off putting the extra cash you were going to pay into investments/retirement accounts. You really need to talk to a financial advisor now so when you do retire can rest easy. When you are elderly having property in your name can be a curse, if you need long term care that's the first thing they will take. If you trust your kids look at a living trust or transferring it to them with lifetime right to occupy.

I plan on contributing more to my Roth account now. But im also a old school person, i like to keep cash stashes. Never lose with the fluctuations of the market. I know thats not right, but feels right to me.

By avoiding the downside, you will miss all the upside.
