i have it on my BMW, it comes in handy every once in a while - hardly a necessity tho.

i remember when i first got my car and didn't know the mirrors did that, every time i put it in reverse i would hear the mirror motor buzzing and start thinking "wtf IS that!? is my tranny going bad...WTF!?"....next day i saw the mirror move and ended that stupid mystery

my parents 02 Passat has it as well, and I find it very helpful, but like someone else said, you can easily turn it off if you don't need it, don't want it, or find it to be a hinderance. My Camaro doesn't even have power mirrors so I've done without them for a long time...but I wouldn't mind having them!

Uhhhh...?

By power mirrors, do you mean being able to adjust them from the controls inside the car? My '07 Malibu and '03 Envoy have that feature but they don't move when I put the car in reverse...

Awesome so it looks like it will be avaliable. Both of my parent's cars have this (Lexus RX and Caddy DTS) and on those you can select either the left or right mirror to go down, or neither so hopefully that is they way this one will work for people who don't want to use it.

My car has it. It's nice to get close to the curb with, but I don't expect to see it on the Camaro. Not all Chevy cars have it. I know for a fact that the C6 vettes don't.

For those who are unaware of this feature, it used to be something only ultra luxury cars had, then just luxury cars, and now it appears it has trickled down to regular cars (I know BMW has had it since about 2000 and even Acura has had it for a couple years)

It's usually called auto reverse mirror, and what happens is when you shift into reverse, the passenger mirror automatically tilts all the way down to supposedly give you a better view of the curb or where the edge of the driveway is. To me, it's rather annoying and I would dissable it if it came standard on the Camaro.

Especially in a car that we will have with those massive rear blind spots, using the side view mirrors for backup is essential for seeing what's BEHIND you, not on the ground.

I'm adding a couple of wide angle spots to my side mirrors. Maybe a backup cam too, if I can fit it in an inconspicuous location inside.

...and of course a radar detector!

My CTS has them. When put in reverse...the side mirriors will tilt down so the driver can see the curb when backing. Very nice, although I turned mine off because I hear they have a bad habbit of locking up if you back often.

Hmm I have used mine countless times with no problem, maybe the error you are refering to was just a random electronic failure.
