I hope this is the right place for this thread, does anyone here use or suggest upgrading to a performance radiator for an SS (6 speed manual) that will be pretty heavily modded? Or is the stock one good enough? Thanks

Well, the stock radiator is used in COPO Camaros with the 427 as well as the 327 2.9 supercharged engines. Not sure what you plan on doing, but those could be considered extreme performance Camaros and the stock radiator works just fine!

Upgrading to a performance radiator does help!

We have the all Aluminum CSF radiators availble. They are designed to perform up to 40% more efficient and cooler than OE stock radiators.

There are a couple links here regarding Radiators. I race my car in rally races throughout the country. Two of those races are through Nevada in the summer ending in Vegas where it gets brutaly hot! I was having problems with overheating.

I went through the owner of JDP Motorsports (Jordan) and he hooked me up with a CSF aluminum Radiator that eliminated my problems!!! I get a lot of compliments with the looks of the polished radiator as well.

JDP has sold a good number of these Radiators to people on this forum. You will see all were satisfied with the radaitor. Hope I helped.

My experience has been that the plastic radiators are good for a few years, then an aluminum radiator is called for.
I put a Griffin radiator in an old 3rd gen , and it made a tremendous difference in cooling.

I popped my radiator at the track on a really hot day almost 2 years ago, I went with the CSF radiator. I have more miles and track days on the CSF radiator than I did on the stock radiator and its been great. I've noticed my trans temps are a little cooler as well.

Flex-a-lite makes a drop in radiator that offers superior cooling to the OE. It comes complete with dual electric fans and an external transmission cooler.

Here you can see the difference compared to the stock unit.

The transmission cooler bolts up behind the front bumper.
