2SS BATTERY UPGRADE

I will be installing a sub and amp package this weekend. I would prefer to upgrade the car's existing battery before adding a secondary battery or capacitor. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket battery to go with?

red tops, not really-- "These batteries are designed for engine starting applications. They are not recommended or warranted for use in deep cycle applications."

an optima yellow top on the other hand is meant for high drain electrical/audio

I did also look at the Kinetik and Stinger batteries. From what I have read, they are supposed to be better than Optima or Odyssey batteries. Does anyone have any experience with the Kinetik or Stinger batteries?

Battery upgrade

IF you as NASA which battery they use in the space shuttle it is Odyssey. I have six of them is my boat, they have the highest discharge cycle life as any battery.

2SS has a 27 series battery in it. Do you think you have to upgrage. There is lots of room to make a nice neat cap installation.

caps are worthless, basically a bad band aid for a crap install. Second batteries are only going to help your play time with the car off. A stock battery is more then capable of putting out 200A+ during peaks. The starter takes 80-90A easily. Make sure you have GOOD power wire, and GOOD grounds, both to the amp, and from the battery to the body of the car. People often overlook ground wires, which is the cause of 90% of the "lights dimming" problems I see. 0ga power wire is pointless on a stock 8ga ground wire. Also, the factory battery has a vent line that vents gas from charging/discharging outside the car. if you do get a second battery, put an ignition controlled (or even a switch controlled) isolator on it, run all the stock wiring to the extra battery (like a yellow top so you can deep cycle it safely), and just use your stock as a backup/starting battery when you kill the yellow top. Car dies, flip switch, start car, drive off. Just my 2 cents.
