For those people who can wait 2 years for the Z28 to come out, good luck. You have more restraint than me. There is no way I could have waited 2 more years for the car I have now. I do congratulate GM for doing it though, as the GT500 does need a competitor. I think the price will be close to $50K and then you will see alot more comparisons on "should I buy a Z28 or used Z06?" Good times to come!!

You know people keep saying. I will beleave it when i see it. When what they don't think about, is exactly how long its been since the first whisper of the 2010 camaro came out. Only about 4-5 years ago? ha ha If you think about that then Yes there will be a Z/28built, but we will have no clue when.

And you can slap a super charger or turbo your camaro right now and probably kick the crap out of the up coming Z28. But how long will it last you driving it the way you probably would, when one built from the factory, that is designed to handle the extra power will last longer and have the warrenty.

LS3 to LSA differences: Compression is lower, forged crank, (fill in the rest). I don't think the LSA is designed to handle much more than a stock LS3. Vettes have been running 600 hp on the stock bottom end so you might be fine with stock boost from a LSA Z28, but turning the boost up, you might need to build your internals anyways. Of course, all this is speculation at this point... |

I think I'll trade in my 2LT for the Z28 when it comes out.
That will give about two years to get it passed congress (my wife)

aw man... I'm wondering about price too... I think thats the biggest question... The cadillac CTS-V price range is $59,800-$68,500 so I think the camaro will be around that cost... or could it be just as expensive or MORE?
Also... lets everyone NOT forget that they said they are going to possiblity start this car in a year... but remember once they start producing it could take up to ANOTHER year before your able to get one if you order it. Sooo.. then your looking at not having one to drive until close to 2012... so i say.. stick with the SS for 4 years and then u can get the Z28.

im soo glad that they are doing all this, making new models and all that. but it feels like the people that got the production line off the ground by buying the first editions are getting upstaged now..i think that the people that put their money into GM by buying this car should have the goods..now people that just set back and waited will have better performing cars than us..not talking about the Z28, im talking about the higher end V6..kinda shitty. they shouldnt bring out a higher end faster V6 they should release aftermarket parts for us that already own one to do what we want with the car performance parts..but thats just me talking crap cause i already bought one, and now people that get one later will have a better running car than me..LOL.ohh well at least they are making the Z after all..thats incredibly exciting..ive seen tons of people going nuts whenever they said they cancelled the future of the Z28..now these guys are going to go nuts in a good way..lol.

First off happy or not nobody should be shocked by this. The Z28 rumors have been ongoing since before the 5th gen was even for sale afterall. Secondly it's just good business to keep the product fresh and in the news. Camaro launch 2009-2010, convertible launch 2010-2011, Z28 launch 2011-2012 and a mild refresh can likely be expected around 2014 and GM shouldn't talk much about anything not within ~1 year of if being released as they need to sell cars now not convince potential buyers to wait for years (same goes for any car manufacturer). Even given the recent announcements none of it is set in stone though and any of it could still change, although the convertible is close enough and promised so that one is about as solid as could be without being in production.

IMO GM is doing the right thing. I wish it was the LS9 that was going into the car though. To compete with the GT500 it would be nice if it were an apples to apples engine comparison (fully built engines). Price wise, I'm going to guess it will come in a bit cheaper than a comparible GT500. I'll say about 10k more than a 2SS/RS or so. I'll say base price of about 46k.
